So let's say you see the future, and you see the following: You find the love of your life, get rich doing what you love, and are surrounded by people you like being around. Then, it all comes crashing down, and you lose everything, never to reach that level of happiness again. Knowing that, would you be willing to go down that road to achieve that level of happiness, or would you avoid it, because you know it will lead to misfortune?

I've noticed more and more that people ask questions... and then pick the "best answer" as the one that lines up most closely with what they already believe.

Case in point:

For instance, it has been hypothesized that Einstein was able to come up with many of his theories because he wasn't indoctrinated in the academic thought of that time. Also when solving puzzles if I start thinking a certain way, I have a hard time thinking any other way. It is also apperent on YAnswers. The questions might be similar until someone writes something original, then the questions seems similar to the new line of thinking. For this reason, I try to answer before I read anyone else's answer.

As a follow up question to "Would you sacrifice your life to save 100 strangers?" My answer was no... because I need my life to give it to my loved ones everyday, to the passing stranger, to my co-worker by doing everyday sacrifices instead of a big flash for 100 strangers.
Any one else can relate?

and if not... then how could only some things have a purpose and others not? This leads me to conclude (enless God exists) that nothing has a purpose. There is no way, that in the entire universe, everything that exists serves a purpose.

Example- My brother is 19, he is a year and a half older. He spent his public school days slacking off, sleeping in class and never doing homework. He always did excellent on tests though, including the SAT. Now he just finished his first year at college and made the deans list and got all A's. He takes classes such as advanced physics and calculus. He wants to be an engineer. I spent my publics schools days working my *** off for B's and the occassional A. Now here I am the end of my senior year and incredibly fustrated. I am terrible in math and science courses. I have been accepted into a good college but I don't even know what to do there. There are certain things I want to be but I don't know if I can handel those jobs. I tried so hard to comprehend certain concepts in chemisry and algebra but I could never get them. Why is my brother able to accomplish so much when I struggle to be "average"? Why are some people just smart while others are not?

St Augustine of Hippo wrote that first sentence.

Do you take every day events, such as a surgeon saving someone's life as miraculous? Or do you need something almost impossible to happen, before you will say that's a miracle!? Define what you consider to be a miracle...

A philosopher may define it as violations of a law of nature by a supernatural being. Any event considered to be a miracle faces tough challenges!

I purposely placed this question under philosophy..
