I think that the moon is a "romantic" symbol universally. There have been poems written about the sun, but never (to my knowledge) deeply, romantically. Can this be explained in words, or only in feelings? Both are beautiful in their own way, but "romantic?" I don't think so. The moon is gentle, & I just thought of this--compared to the sun, hangs in the sky for such a little time! Perhaps like love? (Many poems about the moon, &"romance" are somewhat sad.) There is such an antiithesis--FEEL the moon. FEEL the sun. I think the moon evokes far more "romantic" feelings--& consider--how mysterious the moon "feels" compared to the sun. The cycles of the moon also affect our moods. What an interesting question.

In my opinion, it could be that people are far more busy
in their lives during the daylight hours, so they don't have
as much time to observe the nature of romance.
The reason why people might not write romantic poems
about the sun in moon light is because the pureness
of the sun light observation and its profound details
fade with the passage of time. The moon light hours
provide the contemplative state of mind which helps
procure poetic expression.

I agree with you on this all the romantic poems I read its always about the moon but the Greeks and Italians write about the beautiful sun and love.......
I think the moon represents dark love to me something hidden in the night....I think the moon represents mystery and fantasy and idealism but in reality its dark and not truthful!!! I agree they write about the moon to much in romance like its not real!!! The sun is when you the truth!!

For several reasons. Amongst them: (1) Moon only appears at night. Night means dark, and dark means ability to hide from others; (2) For centuries people have believed that the moon has an influence in our behavior, including our passions; (3) Look at Greek and Roman Mythology...
Regarding, the Sun, it may symbolize Strength, life, warmth, etc, but it doesn't seem romantic in general, sorry.

I BELIEVE,the sun itself creates moments through different objects, instead of directly-the streaming early morning sun through a dew filled forest, the glistening over a quiet stream, the late evening everchanging sunsets{and sunrises}the heavenly type of sunrays bursting through a thunderhead after a downpour, and in the opposite direction, the resulting rainbow, all of these are inspiring and romantic to this guy! And although they are not directly linked to the sun itself,..............................THE MOON,we romanticize over, is ALSO reflecting SUNLIGHT. Poor ole sol never gets credit. A very good question! Have a nice day! {there is a song lyric-you are my sunshine, my only sunshine...........

the sun is bright, hot, and usually represented as a guy, while the moon is bright but not too bright in a sense of we can look up at it, it is gentile, clam and usually represented as a girl. most romantic poems I have read is written by guys, or by my female classmates. the sun has a harsh appearance, and the moon kind.

It's interesting because this might also be a cultural consideration. In Hungarian we have a saying which says that someone is as beautiful as the sun, which means they are blindingly beautiful. But you are right, in that I can't think of any similar sayings or connotations of the sun in English or American culture.

Au contraire. Seek and you shall find the sun. Just look for the brilliance.
As a side note, Ronin should learn more of the moons more feral tendencies.

I like the second one better. It is so much more deep. Both are very beautiful though, and well written. I like the second one better, because it describes exactly how I, (and I am sure most others that have experienced a heartbreak), felt when my boyfriend and I broke up. IT was very hard and very depressing time for me. Thankfully, we ended up getting back together.<3 =-D

the moon is more of a softer light one that illuminates
and leaves a soft glow. the sun is mentioned but very seldom....its bright and hot and not really as ''sexy'' or romantic unless its a sunset ....but the moon is so much more romantic.
