The concept of creation or a Creator and the evolutionary theory of Darwin are not mutually exclusive ideas or necessarily opposed to one another. Further, one might arrive at the conclusion in regards to the existence of that which is called "God" not simply through revelatory texts, but through rational inferences. Also, do not be so narrow yourself to presume that everyone who might believe in God ascribes to the same account of the origins of the world detailed in the Book of Genesis, or that they would interpret this account in a simplistic manner. Lastly, not all the proponents of evolutionary theory are materialists or atheists.

When there are two options as you cite, you really have FOUR choices:
- God did it.
- evolution did it.
- God AND evolution did it.
- NEITHER God nor evolution did it.
It's important not to forget that you have other choices! To make matters word, even the 'God did it' will have a different variation for each religion and the 'neither' solution embraces a near-infinitude of models.
As to which it is... well, historical information verges on the impossible to prove. How would we ever know if some entity interfered with the evolutionary process to produce a specific, intended outcome? Scientists often have to concede that there is a lot of stuff they don't really know and can't really find out.
Theologists sometimes do not concede such things. So long as some of them continue to believe that their source of divine inspiration is more accurate than any other source of information, then the argument will undoubtedly continue (unless the scientists find some evidence of the Divine... that would be interesting). Current indicators suggest that it will pesist on some level for pretty much forever.
Peace.

Sometimes, we ask very lame questions. If we came from Chimpz who made the Chimpz first? Darwin? Scientists are too egoistic to accept God's greatness. I know everything. We know nothing infact. Just nothing. Science is too limited friend. You rely upon your senses only to extract information. When science fails, religion takes over. Read the ancient vedic scriptures and it will answer these difficult questions that science confined to material sense comprehension only is incapable to answer. Just look at the world around how organized it is. The sun always rises from the East. Did any newspaper have headlines saying the sun today rose from south. Mhh? Are you controlling the motion of planets? We always have seasons falling in the right months and repeatedly. The ocean waters never comes out rushing into the continents. We can predict eclipses because everything has order. Otherwise scientific laws and principles would not even exist. Because God has put order in the universe. Whether we Like it or not. We are all governed by thirst, hunger, sleep, lust, birth and death. Can science do away with any of these processes. Can one cease to eat? Can one cease to sleep? Can one go on living forever? I am not against science. Science is good. But accept science with a realisation that our scientific knowledge is too poor compared to the higher spiritual knowledge of God-realisation. As we are still struggling at the material level only. we haven't gone higher up. We cannot explain a lot of things with science. How can you understand the Unconditional with the Conditional. It is just illogical. Thanks. Sorry if I was at all offensive to the so called scientific men who ignore the inner callings of the conscience which is the moving God in all of us. Bye and do take care... do go to sleep you cannot do away with it, trust me...

Darwin has not been proved. Apes are still here. If we evolved from them, then why are they still here? The newly evolved has always replaced what it came from as per the theory of evolution. HMMM something doesn't make sense. Those "books" are proven and will be fulfulled someday. That is for sure.

Well, for starters, Darwin never said we came from Chimps. As someone who trusts in the science of evolution, you may want to first review what you know about evolution before stepping into this realm. The Creation folks will rip you apart if your questions have holes like that.

As you say there is a proven theory and evidence in favor of evolution (although not exactly chimps as our grantparents). So I do not see why an old myth of the desert tribes should be taken more seriously than that theory.

What if God used the same theory that Darwin refers to?
Then both would apply.

If God made humans, he also made malaria, parasitic wasps whose grubs eat caterpillars from the inside, Sacculina*...
All things bright and beautiful AND all things nasty and vicious.
I tend to see blaming humanity for all the bad stuff
(the Christian doctrine of "the fall") very dubious pleading.
*see URL below for Sacculina and other creatures(?) that are out there.

This is tough because I am Catholic but I also hold a Bachelor's of Science in Nursing and thus have been educated on the origins of man. I'd like to think that we don't know what God made us look like in the beginning of time. We could have been apes.

yes and no...first of all, we arent related to monkeys. the tree we came from is entirely different. BUT, yes we did evolve from a primitive man/thing/creature/deal. HOWEVER, this in no way precludes the possibility of spontaneous creation. it makes some of the silly bible stories look pretty bad, BUT, in no way precludes a god/power/all-knowing/spiritual thing a ma jig.
