Do you agree that change occurs when "one becomes what he is, not when he tries to become what he is not"?
How do you define change?

Ronin, I've not thought of change in the context of negativity. That's really interesting and no less valid!

I disagree.

When I was younger I was a pompous ***. I went to college, met people better than me, learned some philosophy and calmed down. Now I am almost too passive.

So I did not invest more heavily in principles that already existed within me, I chose different ones.

In fact it seems contradictory (for obvious reasons) but also b/c, what if I never become who I am? Does that mean that "who i am" is being someone that I'm not?

Why say "change occurs"? It sounds like he's talking only about positive change. Change can be in either direction. What if I move further away from who I am? Is that not change?

You can't make a silk purse out of a sow's ear. Or how do you pull yourself up by your own boot straps? Real change occurs imperceptibly over long periods of time. But when you become what you are, you have achieved a degree of self realization.

The quote make me think of adolescence...

When people (kids) stop trying to fit in, they are free to become what they have always been. It is a change that too many people fight their entire life. So I agree with the quote in that regards.

Change is when you do something different, or moving, acting in ways that alter other things or people!?

When we pause video.. that is when there is no change... at least on the picture. Change does not occur... it makes things work.
