Charles V's palace at the Alhambra made a potent statement of victory when it was constructed on the grounds of the former Moorish palace. Can you think of another occasion when building on a particular site sent a similar political message?

...and, you still gain the future knowledge of that figure from 21st century! That means you REALLY know all about that figure, and you can avoid all his/her error in history!

You could be NAPOLEON BONAPARTE, avoiding being slaughtered by General Winter of Russia, conquering Great Britain, founding European Union centuries earlier.
Or, you could be ADOLF HITLER, avoiding confrontation with the Red Army, focusing on Western Front and Battle of Britain.
Or, you could be HANNIBAL OF CARTHAGO, succesfully driving Roman Troops, pre-emptiving their strikes to hearts of Roman Empire.
Or, you could be GENERAL CORNWALLIS, commanding Red Coats to ensure the failure of American Revolution, and the downfall of United States of America.
Or... whatever!! You could be anyone, anytime!!!

UNLIMITED POSSIBILITY!! What do you think then? Which figure and why? What would you do as that figure?

I heard it breifly mentioned on an educational kids video that upon the death of their wife, a Pilgrim father would write to "a company on the east coast" to send off for a new replacement mother to raise his children.
I have had no luck finding any info on who these women were or the name of company on the east coast they mentioned.
I am seeking any info related to this subject.
Thank You

I've recently had to listen to a couple of morons talk about how the south was right in trying to suceed from the union and that the civil war was not fought over slavery. I'd just like to say - GO READ YOU'RE DAMN HISTORY BOOK!!! People say it was over taxes or tariffs placed on the slave traders boat. Or even the wacky thing of Lincoln and his "conspiracy" to take over. Every "reason" the south gives just traces back to slavery. Why don't people just face the facts? Now I am not in any way bashing southerners. Both my parents were born and raised in the south and my whole family still lives there it's just that as a history major I think people need to accept the fact that they were wrong and the north was right for trying to stop them. Also I heard that some schoold don't even teach that the south lost. Would someone mind telling people the truth? Any comments?
