I have lived in Connecticut most of my life. Yes, it can get extremely humid in July, August and Early September. The fall is beautiful and always breathtaking.

Humidity can be a problem esp. if you aren't used to it. The higher the humidity, the less your body can cool off from evaporation.
Example: I was in Chicago in Sept. Outside, it felt like it was high70's to mid 80's(I'm from California). When I saw the TV weather report, it was in the low 60's, and the humidty was in the upper 60%. It gets worse on the East coast because of the Gulf Stream, bringing up warm humid air from the South.

Go to www.noaa.gov and look at climate data for Hartford. Remember that Conn. is much smaller than Calif and has no mountains, so the kinds of differences between shoreline and in shore seen in Calif. are much smaller. Also remember that Conn is further north and has lots of land to the north and lots of ocean to the south, so a norther can bring bitter cold and heavy snow while southern and south eastern winds can bring high humidity with moderate temperatures.
