Consider the following:
Trade routes, natural resources, wars (how where they fought and defended - water routes, mountains, etc.), agriculture, interactions with surrounding and foreign civilizations, technological adaptation to the environment, government and religion (were they isolated, influenced by foreign powers, etc), and culture (since cultures differ around the world).
There is no reason you should be having any trouble with such an assignment, your research opportunities are nearly endless.

You might find some interesting geographic parallels between Greece and Japan, or between Egypt, Sumeria, and Rome. There were also some similarities between the region of Africa where the Swahili live, and the region of Asia where the Mongols live. I see you're supposed to pick one, but sometimes comparing similar things gives you insight into why they work out the way they do.

Pick Ancient Greece.
They wore togas because togas are cool during a humid summer.
They were into trade and commerce , shipping , Greece is located next to the seashore and in between the few civilized countries that existed during that time.
There is not as much mud in Greece so they rode around in chariots.
They ate a lot of fish because they live next to the sea.
They ate grapes and promegranate? ms because of the soil.
But they also ate other foods from other countries since it was a big trading country. What foods I do not know.
They believed their Gods lived on mountains , there were a few high mountains in Greece.
They knew their lands better than their enemies. Sparta waited for an enemy in Thermopolae and there was a narrow passage before you get to the valley. The 200 Spartans killed a 1,000 people that day. It wasn't enough, though.

Wow, you can't find anything on this? Well, I can tell you without researching that ancient Egypt was dependent on the Nile - you can find all kinds of stuff on that! Without the Nile, there wouldn't be any Egypt! Hows that for geography impact?

Get a map.
Locate each region on the map
Think about the advantages of each location (ie: fishing, sailing to another place, good weather for crops etc...)
Think about the disadvantages (lack of natural resources, no easy access to other civilizations, bad weather etc...)
