It was both the Bismarck and the Prinz Eugen in a battle on May 24, 1941. It became known as the Battle of the Denmark Strait.

I knew Bismarck was involved, so I did an Internet search of "Hood Bismarck" that resulted in an excellent description of what is known about the battle from the source below. Apprently, both Bismarck and Prinz Eugen fired upon Hood, with the latter doing the more serious damage. I recommend you go to my source and read the account for yourself.
