I read a short story online a few months ago, I'm pretty sure the author was the winner of the contest (possibly 2006.) I don't remember which short story contest it was. Since then i have been looking for the website and the story with no luck.

In the story, she does a hit and run, doesn't tell her friend. Smokes weed, I think. But at the end there is something about her looking at a high school picture and either a "gimp" or a "limp." She drinks wine I think and smokes.

She may be an attourney in real life. Any help would be appreciated if anyone read this short story.

ThankS!

My personal favorite is Luna. She's just so weird and dreamy in an awesome way. Randomness rocks, and so does she! :)

I am in a teaching credential program, and I would like to find some reasons that may help students to become motivated to read.

Part of the reason is that I have difficulty with ready myself. I found TV more interesting and entertaining, so I never got into reading when I was younger (also, there was not much family support) . I am 47 years old, and I struggle with reading now.

I do not want my students to fall in to this same predicament. If you can tell me why you enjoy reading, this will help me; especially if you can tell me why you enjoyed reading when you were growing up.

Thank you.

" Hale knew, before he had been in Brighton three hours, that they meant to murder him. With his inky fingers and his bitten nails, his manner cynical and nervous, anybody could tell he didn't belong - belong to the early summer sun, the cool Whitsun wind off the sea, the holiday crowd. "

And can you possibly answer these questions for me please..
a) what's hale? is this a person?
b) what's Whitsun..
c) please suggest the genre and give reasons for your answer

Thanks!!

I am not interested in fiction books and I am not interested in celebrity biographies because I don't think I would really be interested in what has happened in their lives. I find that I am choosing to read about child abuse or women who have been treated badly. Why do I want to read this type of thing? Am I sick or something? Is it normal to want to read about horrible things that happened to other people?

For those of you who have read this book:

I am doing a research paper on The Sun Also Rises by Ernest Hemingway.

I was wondering if I could get anyone's opinion on if they think Lady Brett Ashley was a good role model for women or a bad role model for women in the 1920's after WW1, AND WHY?

This is a pretty vague request & I'll be pleasantly surprised if anyone even responds....I don't even read romance novels, but while standing in line at the grocery store 1 day last year I picked 1 up at the counter. I don't know what the title was, but it was authored by a woman, & it was apparently written in a tongue in cheek fashion. All I remember is that it was about a young woman who had gotten into some sort of unsavory predicament, & she meets up w/ some guy who was apparently destined to help her out, but he was quite reluctant to do so & was basically a lazy, good for nothing slob w/ whom 1 supposes she eventually albeit reluctantly falls in love. It sounded like a pretty funny read, of course it was gone when I finally went back to buy it, & now I'm getting obsessed w/ finding it. Anyone have a clue? Many thanks in advance!
