I was remembering a children's story about the sandman, that puts "sand" in the eyes of the children, to get them to sleep. Does anyone know this story, and what it's called, in English? (I'm Brazilian, but this is not a Brazilian story. I think it's American, not sure)

Thank you for the help! :)

Good night! :)

I was reading The Little Mermaid and read that Ariel had planted a weeping willow in her garden plot. So, I was wondering, can you grow a weeping willow underwater?

This book was #4 for most challenged books from 2000-2005. I had to read this book in high school, and we talked about it in college. What is it about this book that's so controversial now? Steinbeck is obviously one of the best authors of the 20th century, I don't see why it should be challenged.

When two authors decide to write a book, how do they write it while keeping the same flow of style and keeping it a "together thing" and not just a one-person does all the work, the other helps a bit?

In my language class we've just finished reading the book "Flowers for Algernon" by Daniel Keys (the short story, not the novel) and now I'm to give a debate for why I'm against artificial intelligence enhancement. (this is acting in the point of view that the surgery that Charlie had actually exists and also that after he regresses that he does not die as some readers have inferred. Yes, I realize that this is in the Books & Authors section, this is because anyone who may have read the book would understand how my debate should be, and more or less what i'm basing my morals off of. Thanks.

If you've worked hard and revised the story and it's been condensed and is far more literate and a better piece of work, is it OK to then attempt to republish. It has been refined and is in many respects a different and better story. When do the first rights stop and creative liscence take over?
Don't get me wrong. I love that the on-line websight found my story relevant to it's sociological outlook. But now I want to pursue literary sources and prizes.
Where does the first stop and the next go? Should I continue to work on the story or cut my losses and go with something different?

if someone made a picture book (fiction) and they used characters from another book/movie (aka: re-telling/writing the story) would that be copyrighting? for example: if someone wanted to make a book "the jungle book" and could PAINT THE CHARACTERS and make them look exactly like the characters in the movie, would that be copyrighting since the movie belongs 2 disney???

im not saying i want to rewrite the jungle book, thats just an example.

but writing a book, retelling it, (and adding some things in there that werent in the movie) and painting ur own pictures, (not taking) and publishing it, would that be illegal copyrighting to disney????

if u dont understand, plz message me k? thanks
