Rex is king. It's the latin name for king which is kind of stupid now that I think of it since the original Oedipus Rex was written in Greek.

Go figure.

Yes, they're the same play under two different titles. It's part of a trilogy -- Oedipus The King, Oedipus at Colonus, and Antigone.
