I don't know about too many recent songs but here are some great examples of what you are looking for.... The Night the Lights went out in Georgia by Vicki Lawrence, Half Breed by Cher, Gypsies Tramps and Thieves by Cher, Uncle Tom's Cabin by Warrant. A story song is a mini movie in a 3-4 minute song.
