I want to write a teen book series, since I love them so much and I'm not ashamed to admit that I'm 30 and I like them better then the best seller stuff not including Nicolas Sparks novels. But I really want to do this and I wanted it to be a teen series but have some kind of mystery to it like the private series or Pretty Little Liars and not just be a book serie about pretty rich kids like Gossip Girl or the A List. I've got a great idea and even started writing it a couple of weeks ago but some times, and I'm talking days at a time I just don't feel like writing. This is to all the writers out there how do you motivate yourself to write more?

I would like to write a book some time. It would be about my life. I have a lot of interesting things to write. I also have a lot of things I want to share that I'm sure other people in this world would feel the same about or would feel as though they may share some things in common with me. However, I have had several terrible things happen in my life that has made me a stronger person. I just want to know how to go about writing a book, finding someone to go over it, and see if it can be published. Does anyone know all the steps it takes to getting a book published? If anyone does, let me know. That would be helpful for near future reference. Thanks!

I've been bored this summer, so I started reading books that have been recommended to me, some I like, some, not so much. But is there a site that lets you rate books you've read, then gives you recommendations on other books you might enjoy, kind of like the netflix rating system?

My friend is furious. Her first assignment in her literature class is to read and comment on a work of what she calls "hard porn" in translation. Can you give me the title of the work summarized below? Do you think this is appropriate to read in a university that costs over $50,000/year in tuition?

A young, wealthy, and very macho guy is proceeding slowly down a country road. Behind him a middle-aged guy is screaming at him to get out of the way. The 1st guy pulls out a weapon, kills the older guy, then grabs the woman sitting next to him, throws her on the BODY of her dead husband and rapes her! The woman gives birth to a daughter 9 months later. After a series of coincidences, the guy goes crazy and blinds himself. He then takes off with his daughter to another city, where he lives until old age, when he dies in an earthquake.

I can scarcely wait to hear your opinion.

Its a story about a fictional samurai. I've based his actions during the civil war in Japan, upon Akechi Mitsuhide. However, his fate differs, as does his reasons for attacking his lord.

However the part I am having the most difficulty is, I want to make it 'authentic', and I want to use Japanese terms, to give it that feel. However, many people, unless taught or otherwise a fan of things Japanese, wouldn't find the story enjoyable because they wouldn't know much of the terms I may use.

How can I make the story authentic, and still make it good to read?

I've really enjoyed Beverly Lewis's and Wanda Bruscheder's Amish books, as well as the Laura Ingalls Wilder books when I was a child and was curious if there are any similar type books maybe about Revolutionary War days, Frontier days or Civil War Times, or even early 1900's? Those books DID have romantic themes, but there was no graphic sex, which is something I'm trying to avoid (I HATE historical romance books, yuck yuck yuck!) They don't directly have to be Christian books either though it's not a problem if they are, I'm not actually a prude or anything I just don't enjoy romance novels. I like a good strong female character and I enjoy the decriptions of these simpler times and places. Any suggestions? I know I'm being very picky, I just spent an hour at my library and everything I picked up that looked promising wound up being a romance with sex every 20 pages.
