I've been bored this summer, so I started reading books that have been recommended to me, some I like, some, not so much. But is there a site that lets you rate books you've read, then gives you recommendations on other books you might enjoy, kind of like the netflix rating system?

I just found this great site that beats Amazon all to heck and back! It's called "LibraryThing"

http://www.librarything.com/

and here is what the site offers:

* Meet the world's largest book club. Find people with eerily similar tastes.
* Catalog with Amazon, the Library of Congress or 82 other world libraries. Import from anywhere.
* Get recommendations. Tag your books and explore others' tags.
* Put your books on your blog.
* Enter 200 books for free, as many as you like for $10 (year) or $25 (life).

Check it out

* Members have cataloged more than seventeen million books.
* Show your books: on a shelf or as a list.
* Books: Middlesex, The Horse and his Boy, Programming Ruby, Stitch 'N *****, The Structure of Scientific Revolutions, Don't Waste Your Life
* Members: avaland, sylphette, Busifer, Irisheyz77, wafflehouse
* Tags: wwii, Victorian, philosophy of science, vampires, theology, dogs
* Check out the LibraryThing blog to see how rapidly—and openly—it's developing.
* If the buzz page doesn't convince you, you cannot be convinced. Go away.

Amazon recommends books based on your ratings, actually not only books but the complete range of books they sell. The system gets better all the time. Try it.

Amazon.com definitely. Just sign up, and when you rate items you own, they recommend more. I got some really good recommendations on books. Plus Amazon has reviews and they sell the books too.
