Run, don't walk, to the library and get a copy of Writer's Market. It lists about 30,000 publishers, and gives a precise outline of what their requirements are. Then you send them a query letter that briefly outlines your novel (no longer than two pages) and lists any publication history you have. If they are interested they will ask to see a couple of chapters. If they like it, they will ask to see the rest.
Good luck to you!

Wow. First you should learn how to spell and present yourself properly. That is just awful. Please remember that when you are an author, it is very important that you always present yourself as such. A sentence like you wrote above would be a death sentence in the publishing world. Get in the habit of presenting yourself by writing properly at all times. An agent or publisher could be reading this. Do you think they would respond to a sentence like that??

Beyond that, start with a copy of Literary Marketplace. It is a reference book you can use in a library. Bring a notebook to take plenty of notes. Writers Market should help you to get a handle on how to publish a novel, but Literary Marketplace is truly the author's Bible.

You will also find several starred Q and A on my profile regarding publishing and writing. I keep adding them as I see good questions here. Many are printing them out and using them as their own guide. Feel free to. Pax - C

A literary agent for the big publishers, or go directly to one of the smaller publishers.

Jeff Herman's Guide to Publishers and Agents is better than Writer's Guide. But I also have to add that both publishers and agents are overwhelmed with submissions and as a new author your chances of being noticed is very slim.

And this is not a reflection on you... It is just an insiders game these days... ghost writers writing for celebs, and long time writers who obey what is demanded of them. Those are the ones who are getting published these days.

Check out the Writer's Market 2006. You can look at it at the library. That should tell you what you need to know. Also, they now only accept query letters and so you'll need books on how to write them...
