I'm just looking for ideas of books to read and I'm curious about other people's must reads, whether it's considered classical literature or modern fiction.

does anyone els think that the whole sirius and lupin relationship is ridiculus? sorry for those who disagree, but i dont know how anyone could think that. yes, snape said that they fought like an old married couple, but, that was snape who said this, snape didn't know them that well. i mean, what other things did jo rowling say that could give any hint to this at all??? I dont want to make any other fan mad, because im a big fan too, i just dont get this. they were just friends, weren't they???

I just want to write a story for fun, is this a good idea? A girl finds a snakeskin on the ground one day. She loves snakes, so she takes it and puts it in a bag and puts the bag on a shelf. That night, she has a dream that the snake needs his skin so he can make his son the king of snakes when he dies. The snake (the king of snakes) is angry at her, and says if you don't give me back my skin, I will find you and hurt you.

That's it, is it a good idea? If it is, what should happen next?

It's my first year teaching third grade.
I am making a list of recommended reading books.
I already have:
*The War With Grandpa
*Fourth Grade Celebrity
*There's a Boy in the Girl's Bathroom
*The School Story
*The Report Card

It'll be a goal of the students to read at least two books off of the recommended reading list...

Can you think of any other books?

For those that have read The Odyssey, what are the portents? It's a summer reading project and for the life of me I can't find out what the portents are for an assignment sheet. (Yes I read the book).
