Persiphone_Hellecat is incorrect. She said that you can't do it, but she is assuming you're talking about publishing. You can, of couse, write a book on whatever you wish...but publishing is another matter indeed. If you want to write just for the sake of writing and share with your friends, I say by all means do so. Writing a novel is one of the most joyous experiences a person can have. Best of luck! :)

Yeah, I agree with Persephone_Hellecat and K K!!!
There are thousands, perhaps millions of people out there who write novel about other books, games, movies etc.
If you were to write it for your own pleasure, you could the post it on fanfiction.net or fictionalley... These websites allow people to read work written about books, games and movies that they like... And they acknowledge that this work, in no way, represents the view of the original writers or distributors!
Just make sure before you do that, that Nintendo hasn't requested/banned fan fiction about it's products... Although i don't see them doing that, as fan fiction is more likely to make a person go and play the game, but some authors have requested that fan works about their books not be published on there!
This is the ONLY way that you would be able to "publish" this book without loosing a LOT of money, and you never know... Nintendo might read it and want you to promote them! :P
This way you get to write(which is the main aim that you would do it anyway... For yourself...) AND you get to get feedback and find out what other people think of your work, without facing a lawsuit!
I have a friend on my writing forum, who writes fan fiction about Kingdom Hearts... Just contact me if you want to get in touch with them or anything! They might be able to give you some more pointers in this area...
Good luck...
If you are going to write it... Write it for YOU first and foremost!

I think it is a great idea. The games have a loyal following thus giving you a strong built in audience.
P.S.
Also, I disagree with the previous poster. Zelda has been around quite a while some of it young followers are now much older.

You can't do it. Those are registered and trademarked games and you would need licensing to write a book about them. For that, you would need to pay a literary attorney to contact Nintendo regarding purchasing the rights. t would cost you a lot in legal fees and then probably a ton in licensing fees from Nintendo. LIkely, you wouldn't even get a license since they already produce books and other items themselves. If you did it anyway, a big company like Nintendo would probably sue. And no publisher or agent would handle such a book unless it was properly licensed. They do not want to be involved in lawsuits. Pax - C

it might be good, but in a way bad, bc the game comes with instructions on how to play it when u buy it, and with instructions to do all the moves that he can do. If u think it's a good thing to do though, by all means follow ur heart.

If you use someone elses characters, you either have plagerism or at best fanzine material. You're better off writing your own material.

Who or what is Zelda? If Zelda is a fictional character that someone else invented, then you shouldn't do it because you might get sued.
