Here's one list:

http://www.life-after-harry-potter.com

Included is a list of only the best sorcery fantasy books, grade reading level, a short review of each book, and a "reader's choice" list of favorite books.

Here's another: http://www.education-world.com/summer_reading/5th_grade.shtml (be patient - it's worth it). If you don't like this list, you can do a search on "fifth grade reading list" and pull up several others. I'm guessing the 10-year-olds should be at least at a fifth-grade reading level.

I hope this helps.

I just joined this group, but thought I could help answer your question! There are so many great children books out right now. There are also a ton of movies coming out based on kids books, so it might be helpful for them to read those before the movies. Such as The Gold Compass, Stardust etc. Also there is a trilogoy of books that are great. The first one is called City of Ember (such an easy read) I can't remember the other two books. Also Gregor the Overlander (it is also a series) But highly excellent. Hope that helps!

Here are a few great resources:

1) My favorite website for this topic:

http://www.kidsreads.com/clubs/index.asp

This site features several books complete with reviews, discussion ideas, etc. It also has great ideas for starting and running your book club.

2)This is a great book, you can get it cheaper on Amazon, or maybe even find it for free at the library:

"The Kids' Book Club Book: Reading Ideas, Recipes, Activities, and Smart Tips for Organizing Terrific Kids' Book Clubs"

3)Oprah's Kid's BookClub

How about "Captains Courageous" by Rudyard Kipling or "The Little Mermaid" by Hans Christian Andersen.
