i have decided to do a story on a teenage girl that lives on a ranch in Kentucky. I want to make it for ages 12 to 15 or around that area somewhere.

So... of couse i want the story to be about a girl, some teenage drama, horse stuff, and a lil bit of love.

But i don't want it to be like all those other series, like "Phantom Stallion" or "Hearland"

Do you have any ideas for my story...???

Can someone please help me translate or describe what this poem means. It is by Emily Dickinson.

The Bee is not afraid of me.
I know the Butterfly.
The pretty people in the Woods
Receive me cordially—

The Brooks laugh louder when I come—
The Breezes madder play;
Wherefore mine eye thy silver mists,
Wherefore, Oh Summer's Day?

I need 5 similarities. They need to relate to the plot and characters and how Shakespeare developes them. I would really apprciate it since I dont understand the writing style that Shakespeare used.

Here is the plot for the book I am writing. It will be called A Date With Destiny.
A girl named Sara wins the Date With Dan contest. The winner gets a date with Dan Radcliffe. She is in love with him,and she is really excited about it. She doesn't know how the date will turn out. Sara is only a 6th grader, which means she is much younger than Dan. She doesn't know if Dan will like her or hate her. This people will find out when (hopefully) the book is published. The girl Sara,I base on myself. I plan to put my true feelings for Dan in this book.
Do you think this will be a good idea?

I took english class in college already. English classes or writing and expressing thoughts classes is always been my favorite and I always had A's on English classes.

I wanted to become an author. I already wrote two stories of my life and I gave it to my two English teachers and they loved my story.

I want to write non-fiction and fiction stories. How do I get started with becoming an author step by step? I took only one english in college and two English in high school.

Has anyone ever read the book 'Hear the Wind Blow'? It's a great historical fiction about the Civil war, by Mary Downing Hahn, read it if you get the chance.

I mean Steven King books are like R-rated movies. Anybody can buy Cosmopolitan. How is it different from movies? Ten year olds aren't ready to be buying and reading this stuff.

I hope this isn't a stupid question.

I'm wondering if anyone remembers a series of kids books that existed in the 1970's where the text was printed in different directions on the pages. We're looking for the name of the author and maybe a title or two if possible. Some paragraphs were printed reversed, you needed to hold the book up to a mirror to read that paragraph. Some were printed upside down, some were printed around the page in a box, so you had to spin the book to read that page.

I'm an English major, but analyzing poetry is not something I'm good at. In the last two lines of the poem "And let their liquid siftings fall/ To stain the stiff dishonoured shroud." my professor is saying there is supposed to be double meaning in "liquid siftings," I get the literal sense of the words, but what other possible meaning can you contrive from that line? Long analysis short the narrative is about a bum, whom Elliot compares to the legend of Agamemnon, a Greek king around the war of troy, they are both killed by their lovers and both have Nightingales sing after their death. Elliot seems to think that bum's and kings, once they reach death, nobility is stripped away and they are equals.

If anyone can help me with this I'd appreciate it. Thanks.

If I only I knew why

Crimson sand makes the desert floor,
The azure sky guards on.
Purple breath envelops my lungs,
The night turns into dawn.

I hear the distant sound of life,
Right now I am alone.
This space belongs to only me,
This spot becomes my own.

I gaze at the snowy white clouds,
As unvoiced time stands still.
I lose myself in arid air,
The wind provides a chill.

My hands endure the passing gust,
My mind begins to float.
I rest among the lilac sky,
My thoughts become remote.

I smell the chalky, bitter scent,
My life stands idly by.
I depart my life and return,
If only I knew why.

The witches in Macbeth are evil. I get that much. Man, by nature, is evil. Do the witches suggest evil to man, or do they simply suggest an object which may entice the inclination to evil which is always within man because of original sin?

Thanks in advance!

Flash Fiction is fiction of 500 words and under. I've about 80 of such pieces by now, most of them overly descriptive, sometimes violent, and usually written as to give the reader some food for thought.

Here's a pair of examples so you can better see what I'm talking about, pieces I wrote in 2005 and 2006 respectively (these two have more FEELING than STORY, but I think it should give you the general impression of what I'm going for): http://intuitive-ds.com/personal/FlashFiction.html

I have a high reading level and I love to read. I don't really like historical fiction, biographies, or autobiographies. I'm into fantasy and realistic fiction, but recently I've been interested in science ficton novels. I just need some book recommendations and if you know they are award winning novels could you please note that? Thanks.
