Well, basically, get some good ideas and start writing!!! Just use ur thoughts to come up with the perfect book!!! Every word is a part of a sentence and every sentence is a part of a picture. YOU just need to piece that picture together. Get it published!!!! Send it to NLBA!!!!! If it doesnt get published, that's ok!!! There are many other chances to write a book but very few of them to become an author!!!!!

If you took college English, you should be fine. Many successful authors didn't major in creative writing. Most of them had (or still have) day jobs. Ask your local library for the latest edition of "Writer's Market." It's got a list of publishers and their needs and tips on getting published.

You become an author by writing. I suspect what you are really asking is "How do I get my writing published?" You do that by submitting your work to magazines that accept unsolicited work, entering literary contests, or by hiring a literary agent to help you get published. Go to your local library and look at the 2007 issue of the book Writer's Market to find such magazines; check out the 2007 Guide to Literary Agents; and subscribe to Writer's Digest magazine which has many helpful tips, notices about writing contests, and much more. http://www.writersdigest.com/

Write and write and write. When you finnish a story and have it revised, send it to different publishers. There are resources in the library that aid you in who and where to send your stories. You could become an author without sending it to publishers and publish it yourself, however this would be a large chalange.
Good luck and God bless you in your writing.
GOD BLESS AMERICA!!!!

Reading will go a long way in helping you. Read a lot and learn how to write by others examples.
Writers Market is a good resource. You may also way to subscribe to one of the writer's magazines. Go to Barnes and Noble to see which ones suit you.
