I love all of her books, but especially Pride and Prejudice. I could (and have) read it many times.
I also really like Sense and Sensibility but is isn't one I can ready very often, maybe once every few years.. I love the relationship between Elinor and Marianne. I think its because I don't have a sister, but always wanted one.
Northanger Abbey is nice and short and has a nice light and jolly feeling.
Persuasion is also easy to read as it is so short, and you can really feel Anne's emotions in it. But I never got into her relationship with Captain Wentworth like I did with Elizabeth & Mr. Darcy or Emma & Mr. Knightly. I think its because all of the stuff that is supposed to endear them as a couple to us are seen through explanations of past happenings, and there wasn't a lot of actual interaction between them.
The first time I ready Mansfield Park I didn't like it too much, but I think I was too young. I read it again in an upper division literature class in college and I now I like it a lot. It is long, but it is all very good.
I love Emma. especially Mr. Knightly and their relationship. I thin Mr. Knightly is my favorite of all of Jane Austen's "leading men". He is just such a good guy. And not just in some aspects, he is an overall good guy. Plus in the movie he is played by Jeremy Northam and the fact that he is a lot older than her doesn't matter because he is so good looking.

Have you read any of her short stories? I think they are called her Juvenilia? They are also really amusing. I tried to read the Sandition, but in reading it, it was clearly a draft, and I didn't want to finish, since it might change my perception of her writing, which wasn't fair, since it wasn't finished.

Pride and Prejudice.

I can't tell you how often I pick this up to re-read, atleast twice a year. After I first read it, I read Persuasion, and liked it too, but Pride was still #1, so 2 summers ago, just to be sure I liked it the best, I checked out and read all of Austen's book so it is truly official, that Pride and Prejudice is it for me.

Which probably explains why I like Bridget Jones too. We all know where that idea came from.

"Persuasion", hands down! I took an upper division Jane Austen class in college, and we read every single thing she ever wrote (including letters and incomplete works). I think "Persuasion" is her best because you can really read her maturity, as it was written later in her career. The writing is more mature and the characters are more mature. It's excellent!

Pride and Prejudice, most defitely--- gotta love Mr. Darcy!! Countless books and movies, including Bridget Jones' Diary, have been based off this novel, and if you haven't read it yet, you really should! Don't rely on movies to give you the full story.

Mansfield Park. There is more emotion in this book that any other she wrote. It loosely parallels some of her own life and you can read between the lines and see how much pain she was in. She really put something of herself into this book.

I put Pride and Prejudice and Emma at the same level in my preference and then all the others.

Sense and Sensibility. I can't think of any other book that fully portrays the woman in her entirety. There is every type of woman and all emotions that she has. I love all the characters.
