Here is the plot for the book I am writing. It will be called A Date With Destiny.
A girl named Sara wins the Date With Dan contest. The winner gets a date with Dan Radcliffe. She is in love with him,and she is really excited about it. She doesn't know how the date will turn out. Sara is only a 6th grader, which means she is much younger than Dan. She doesn't know if Dan will like her or hate her. This people will find out when (hopefully) the book is published. The girl Sara,I base on myself. I plan to put my true feelings for Dan in this book.
Do you think this will be a good idea?

The first major flaw is using a real celebrity's name.
The second is the girl is in 6th grade - no parent in their right mind would let their daughter date or sign up for a "win a date" contest at that age nor would any contest officials allow a child that young to enter the contest.

You're asking readers to suspend way too much disbelief.

I think its very cliche and has been done a million times by romance novelists since the beginning of Harlequin Romances. I also think that the idea of using a 6th grader is ludacrous. You would have to put an awful lot into the plot and characterizations to have this be different from the millions of other books like this - I also think the romance novel industry is pretty tough to break into and your chances would be slim with a plot like this. Just being honest. Pax - C.

I think it would be a good idea if the main character would be a boy and instead of Mr. Radcliffe there would be a young actress called Destiny. Clever, and not overly pretentious. Of course it shouldn't really matter what I think, but I liked the "A Date With Destiny" title so much I just couldn't pass posting a reply.

No. It'll turn out to be one of those stupid, fake, trashy, chick books. The plot line is horrible too--you can't base an entire story on a mediocre [if you can call him this:]actor/[celebrity.

But hey, if it's for your own amusement and fantasies, go ahead.

Sounds a lot like "Win A Date with Tad Hamilton" to me.

Why not? Harlequin might consider publishing it.
You would have to change the celebrity's name to a fictional one, though, unless you get permission to use it.
