The tears glistened in the moonlight infront of the grave. Soft words were mumbled from her red, plump lips as she stared at her brother's name on the grave.
"This is the only way to survive,
You and I,
We're always together,
Me and brothe of mine."
Benji recited softly, looking down as she started to cry more. A dozen roses were in her hands for it was Valentine's Day, an arm suddenly wrapping around her shoulders. Solly, her mate, was just as saddened by this, but didn't cry. He held her close, kissing her neck, whispering loving words to calm her down.
"I-I miss him..." Benji sniffled, her shoulders convulsing as she placed her tear stained face in the crook of Solly's shoulder.

It's my first attempt at a murder mystery novel, and I wrote without worrying about length. I just wrote until I was done. Now I am afraid that it is too long. My word count comes in around 109,000. Do I need to butcher it to prevent agents/publishers from being scared off?

Thanks!

The character names I need are 3 female names and 4 male names. If it is possible please make them have a first and last name. 2 of the female names should be exotic or not very common, if you know what I mean, some exotic first names for the females I was thinking of including Tabitha, Gwenivere, etc. 2, perferably, 3 of the male should be uncommon or exotic. Some last names I was thinking of for the male(s) that should not have exotic names were like Parkhill, Churchill, Randolph, etc. Thanks ahead of time, oh and no character can have the same last or first name as another. Thank you again!

This is my first book, and I am about to start sending out queries to agents. In the section on querying agents in Writer's Guide, they say a paragraph should deal with your experience. I have no publications of any kind under my belt. I do have an English major from a good university. I have done some freelance proofreading/editing - should I mention that? Do I mention my paralegal certification since my book is a murder mystery? (About 15 hours of my coursework was in criminal law - whopee! But my legal work experience was not in criminal law.)

I don't want to come across as having no qualifications, but I also don't want to include anything that comes across as only marginally legit. Any advice would be appreciated!
