The Harry Potter books are great. I enjoy Patricia cornwell books too. I also read alot of Sandra Brown and James Patterson. Iris Johansen is a good author too. One of the favorite books is the true confessions of Charlotte Doyle. I also enjoyed Sarah Bishop. The Spoon River Anthology is a fun read of poems. I like the Swiss Family Robinson and Scarlett Letter.

All of the Miss Marple books by Agatha Christie are good, as are all the Sherlock Holmes stories.

Jane Austen's books are all fabulous, and George Eliot's Middlemarch is one of the greatest novels ever written.
