1.singular mockingbird------------tom robinson
2.scout is the narrator, as spoken by Harper Lee, "because i am a female and my heroine had be, also."
3. racism-----tom robinson didn't have a chance for acquittal in his small home town. he was judged guilty before the trial began due to his size and his color.

mental illness----boo radley is presented as a frightening, stay away from sort of guy. town folklore has presented this simple man as a madman, a boodgy man, and a monster. boo has been stereotyped. only he, alone, can disprove these wrongdoings.

atticus is portrayed as a person loving people of color. although the black people respect him, the white people are rather annoyed that he defends tom robinson.

4. courage to fight as portrayed by scout's frequent bouts with loss of control over her anger

courage to do what is right as evidenced by atticus defending tom robinson
