I am a publisher. I love the written word. I place a high value on the art of communication. So it boggles my mind when I read some of the questions in the Books & Authors section. Folks claim to be at the top of their class, or claim to be so talented, and yet can't seem to construct a complete sentence.

Of course, some of this is the nature of the internet. We abbreviate. We don't proofread. Or maybe, like me, you are typing while on a short break at school/work and don't have the time to go back and check for typos. But in all honesty some of the questions posted are the biggest pieces of incoherent drivel I have ever seen.

So here is the challenge. For all of you who claim to be "at the top of your class," here is your chance to prove it.

Pretend you are going to submit a story to my company. Post your query letter. It only need be a paragraph or two. Best answer will get a free PDF of one of our books. I want to encourage all you budding writers to READ!

I just finished reading it and was not impressed. I might not have been in the right frame of mind when I read it though. What did you think of this book? How would you rate it compared to his other works?

I'm writing an essay for my significant moments.
It's going to be about the time when I broke my hand and couldn't play tennis for a while. Which made me realize that I really like tennis, and I missed it.
Do you know any good title for this?

There are many books being published about "the secret" and "the law of attraction." (like attracts like) Can you recommend the best book for exploring this?

Many of those who have have studied subjects other than literature. I'm not making a popint either way, I'm just interested, as a writer, in the reasons/significance, and the pros and ocns of academia to the writing life.

some are addicted to books, some are not. some would rather prefer the movie than the book. like me, i prefer the movie but still it would be better if we read the book because some movies don't put every little detail unto their production.

"Winter. Building a snow fort one morning, we boys dug out a litter of frozen kittens and their mother. The little ones were still blind. They had been born into it, but had never seen our world."

its from "Jews without money" by Michael Gold. if youre not familiar with the book, its a really gloomy book about poor jewish people in new your in the early 1900s and theyre going through a tough winter, lots of people are dying, etc. im guessing this passage has major symbolic significance and want to write about it in my paper but im not good at english stuff, could anyone help me out and give me a hint as to what it might mean?

I'm 13, but my reading level is exceptionaly. I'm top of my class in everything so being hard means nothing to me. I've read a variety of books. I've tried books such as Alex Rider Sherlock Holmes Harry Potter Eragon CHERUB and many many others. I am really finding it hard to find a good book. I've become so bored I started to write a book and that is going well, but I still want a book to read.
