I'm 13, but my reading level is exceptionaly. I'm top of my class in everything so being hard means nothing to me. I've read a variety of books. I've tried books such as Alex Rider Sherlock Holmes Harry Potter Eragon CHERUB and many many others. I am really finding it hard to find a good book. I've become so bored I started to write a book and that is going well, but I still want a book to read.

I found out about Orson Scott Card a few years ago and haven't been able to stop reading him. His most famous book is Ender's Game, which is phenomenal, along with its 3 sequels, and the companion series Ender's Shadow and its 3 sequels. He also writes some fantasy, such as Enchantment (fantastic book!) and horror, such as Treasure Box. Everything he writes is "unput-downable"! You should give him a try!

What type of book do yo like? That will make a difference as to what I would recommend.

For mysteries or thrillers (since you mentioned Sherlock Holmes) you may enjoy Agatha Christie's books, John Grisham's books, or Dan Brown's "The DaVinci Code".

For fantasy (like Potter and Eragon) try Tolkien (either "The Hobbit" or "The Lord of the Rings" - which is certainly not an "easy" trilogy), CS Lewis (the space trilogy in addition to the Chronicles of Narnia), Terry Pratchett's "Discworld" series, or David Eddings.

You should read The Northern Lights Trilogy by Philip Pullman, which are also called His dark materials.
Then you can try The Artemis Fowl series by Eoin Colfer.
Those are really good books for anyone aged 12 all the way to 100+ .
Otherwise if you like intelligent fantasy with humour try the Discworld series by Terry Pratchett.

I love all these books, and I am sure you will too.

My son's reading level is rather high, he's 15 now but these are the books he was reading at 13:

The Xanth novels by Piers Anthony
The Ranger's Apprentice series by John Flanagan
The Pendragon series by D.J. McHale
The Lost Years of Merlin series by T.A. Barron
The Artemis Fowl books by Eoin Colfer
Lord of the Rings by J.R.R. Tolkien
The DaVinci Code by Dan Brown

He's pretty much big into fantasy books. A couple other books he's read recently you might like are Raven's Gate and the sequel Evil Star by Anthony Horowicz.

Good Luck!

Lord Valentine's Castle by Robert Silverberg
The Magic of Recluce by L.E. Modesitt
The Belgariad series by David Eddings
Dragonlance books
any of the darkover books by Marion Zmmer Bradley
Anne McCaffrey's Pern books
The Sword of Shannara by Terry brooks
The Magic Kingdom of Landover series by Terry Brooks

by Piers Anthony: The Mode series, The Apprentice Adept series, Xanth, Incarnations of Immortality series

All of those are fantasy books (or borderline sci-fi/fantasy in the the case of Pern and Darkover).

If you liked Harry Potter and Eragon, give King Fortis the Brave a try.

It depends on what you enjoy. Pick up some Guy Gavriel Kay (Sailing to Serantium/The Lord of Emperors, Last Light of Dawn, Tigana, Lions of Al-Rassan, The Fionavar Tapestry [3 books]) for some enlightening fantasy. For some downright funny fantasy, look to Terry Pratchett’s Discworld series.

Neither of these fail to entertain me.

The Life of Pi by Yann Martel.

The first 60 pages are a little slow (not boring though) but once you get past them you won't be able to put the book down.
