Only a writer would ask this question!

Of course you should be a writer. You probably are already. I bet you've written down some of your ideas, maybe started or completed a short story and written a few poems.

Why not check out some creative writing programs or (online) writing workshops? Try the Gotham writers. They have great online workshops.

Great start.

A writer is one who writes. (I don't know whose quote that is, but it's a great one!)

Only you can answer this question. A writer is a voracious reader of everything. A writer writes what he or she knows. A writer feels a need to communicate thoughts and ideas. Only you know if you fit the bill.

my answer to you would be a question, actually a couple of questions:
Do you enjoy reading? Do you enjoy writing?
Do you have a story to tell? Do you want to be a writer?

Okay, I can't count--that is 4 questions--but if the answers to those are yes, and the answer to your question is also yes.

It all depends on how well you read.
Also, How well do you understand what your read?
Do you have experiences that will give you fodder for a story or a novel?
If you answered in the positive on all of these, go for it.
