I just finished reading it and was not impressed. I might not have been in the right frame of mind when I read it though. What did you think of this book? How would you rate it compared to his other works?

It was 'okay'...but really, I think he's ran out of imagination...his books just aren't what they used to (with my favorite being The Stand - Cell was like a 'new age' version of The Stand...and greatly simplified).

I agree with Beth H. Yes, I am just old enough to have been alive when he published most of his works, but some of them are so dated. Yes, The Stand and It are better and are still some of my all-time SK favorites, but I liked Cell because it takes place more current day, with cell phones, and not twenty+ years ago. I think this is why I also liked some references to New York just before 9/11 in the Dark Tower series. It made the activities in those stories seem to more real, and possible, to me as a reader now - and not the reader I was even 10 years ago!

I actually liked it quite alot. Mostly because it didn't take place in the 80's. I like his books but I don't get alot of the references because the majority of his books were written before I was even born. It was nice to read one of his books taking place in the here and now with references I understood. Also I think of all Steven King's books this was definately in the top 5 of the most realistic and likely to happen. We're on the verge of a world war 3 and with modern technology the way it is, who's to say that this couldn't really happen?

I was not impressed with it either, at least in comparison to his other books...it just seemed to me to be a rather pointless story....

Does not compare to The Stand (his best and scariest because it was the most realistic and possible) or IT or Pet Sematary (both of them his scariest in traditional horror sort of way)

I give it a 6. It's not The Stand (10) but it's not From a Buick 8 (4)
If you read his latest, "Liseys Story", it may seem boring at first but I got REALLY into it. Don't give up if you start it.

I thought it was okay. Just okay. It isn't up to par with his pre-sobriety, pre-accident work. I would rate it near the bottom of his major works.

Boring
and it seems he has lost his edge in writing
