I am working on a book concept that I would like to get published in September ish in the UK but also in the US, and I am wondering how much does the author usually gets in absolute terms per copy sold? I would also love to hear from an actual publisher interested in a coffee table book on entrepreneurship....

I would like to write book about someone's life. The things that happen in this person's life are still considered taboo by alot of people. Yet, alot of people can relate.

How do you begin a book like that?? With a event in present time and then flashback to tell the story?? I have the story. Just need a little guidance in how to tell it. So people will want to read it.

Thanks!

I have been asked for some suggestions for books (on the theme of love) to go on the Valentine's day reading list.

I can think of the obvious - Pride and Prejudice, Bridget Jones diary - but can anyone think of some relatively obscure ones which will make me look boffin-like and brainy?

Can any one link me to pages which have explanatory notes on Charles Lamb's essays of Elia? I'm not interested in his bio, I already have enough on that. I'd just like to see crriticisms on some of the essays, or notes on them.

I am reading Foucault (and despise him) for a literature class. The problem is Foucault is all we are reading and we are not using his work in conjunction with any literature.

What does he have to do with literature at all?

So far I have read "Ethics," "Power," and "The Birth of the Clinic" and believe these works are more of what a physician should read and, in reality, have nothing to do with literature.

HELP.

PS--I know book titles go in italics or underline, but this forum makes that impossible.

Dancing Leaves:
Leaves dance
To the beat of the wind
Turning circles against the frozen ground.

Valentine Hearts
I close my eyes
ask the question,
and pick a Valentine's heart.
"You wish"
I almost cry,
then choose just one more heart.
"My girl"
Just then,
my phone rings
It's him!
"Do you wish to be my valentine?"
I wish.

I am only in 7th grade, and I wrote them both in English class. Is there anything I can do to make them better? Thanks!

I want to read more, but every day more time is consumed, and I discover I did'nt read at all, or may be a few pages before bed time. It's been more than 3 weeks now and I can't finish Anne of Green Gables!!
I have the ability to read a third of a book (Madame Bovary for eg.)
in one day. But now, I just feel that time is against me. Do you have tips for a better reading routine. I can also read on the bus by the way!

I am 18 and have'nt read any HP book. Every time I walk into a bookstore to buy a book I just watch the Harry Potter books on the shelves and finally decide to go for something more serious(like serious literature for adults). I love the movies and characters, but I'm hesitent to read the books, I just feel it's going to be a waste of time. If I do not read'em, will I be missing something? Specialy that my teen years are coming to an end!
