What themes, lessons, discoveries, etc. did you find when reading Fahrenheit 451? I just want to know what thoughts, realizations, feelings, etc. that you came away with after reading it.

That knowledge and imagination is precious.

It is important to consciously decide what we want to read, study, explore instead of passively absorbing the media that surrounds us.

In Fahrenheit 451, the government outlaws books. In our profit driven media market and watered down educational system, that is not necessary since companies and schools are reluctant to support anything new, risky or controversial.

The book inspired a new sensitivity to my environment and the choices I make.

That censorship will never work. You cannot control the masses by banning anything. People will always find a way to work around the system, if the system is flawed. And that totalitarian regimes cannot be run by the best and the brightest (because they will disagree with the principle), so your revolutionaries will always be smarter and more determined than you.

it was a good book. I didn't understand why a government would not want people to read books. There would be no scholars, no doctors, no lawyers (that might not be a bad thing), and no teachers. This book made me realize that government censorship would be the downfall of society.
