POD means "print on demand". In POD, books are printed as they are ordered. This is a type of technology that allows you to produce books without keeping a large overhead. Instead of using large offset presses, it uses digital technology. POD is popular with self-publishing sites because it allows independent writers to produce books at little or no cost. Many small presses also use POD technology because it allows them to take risks on niche books without a lot of overhead.

Subsidy publishing is a SCAM in which a faux publisher convinces the author to "invest" in the publication of the book. A author should never enter into a subsidy agreement, as these tend to tie up your manuscript with unscrupulous publishers for years. The writer takes on most of the burden of marketing and producing the book.

I assume you mean E-Publishing in the last question. E-publishing refers to ebooks or othe electronic media. E-books are only available in digital format, normally either as a PDF or some reader format.

self publishing is where you've written the book and you get it printed (you've also paid or done yourself the editing, the layout and the cover design). you also sell the book yourself which is often person to person.
print on demand (pod) is sometimes used by self publishers because they don't have to buy a large bulk of books. but all it really means is that they print one copy at a time on demand.
subsidy publishing, if I'm correct, is a publishing company that is own/helped out by a larger book publisher. usually its in the form of distribution, you get to use their distributors and they get a cut of your money. this is hard to do as the big publishers want to see good sales prior.
eb publishing? I assume you mean ebook, is and electronic book, usually they book your book in PDF file that people can download.. like a real book you can self publish or go through a publisher. the main difference is again, professional editing, layout and distribution. but as of now the amount of people who read ebooks are minimal.

Meme:
They are pretty much the same. You must pay them. If you take this route give me a shout I will help you. They will try to get you to pay for advertising and will put your work on the net. Neither of these do any good. Just another cost to you. I wrote two books and went this way because no publisher was interested in my work. I have been raked over the coals as an old saying goes. Whatever you do, be carefull for the bad guys out there. Go to (Warnings & Cautions for Writers.)

Self Publishing is expensive and hard to do. You would be better to submit your manuscript to a publishing company that accepts the work of first time authors. Go to your local book store in the reference section and check out thses guide books. They are very easy to navigate.
