Time…rider
You must always stay behind
As days and weeks slip by
In denial,

Cloud…puffer
You must always stay so high
As months and years glide by
And the styles,

Man…mustard
You must always reapply
As time has passed you by
And the miles…

in his final comment, Nick says: "Gatsby believed in the green light, the orgastic future that year by year recedes before us. It eluded us then, but thats no matter--tomorrow we will run faster, stretch out our arms farther...and one fine morning--so we beat on, boats against the current, bourne back ceaselessly into the past"? Why is this quote significant to the theme of the American Dream in the novel?

it is one of my questions on my homework and i dont really understand it. can someone please explain it to me? thank you!

Hi, i'm a student of a highschool and these days i'm studying 'The Age of Exploration'. While i was reading some handouts which i've got from my history teacher, i got serveral questions:
1. When a Spaniard explorer,Pizarro, conquested the Inca empire, they got a great amount of bullion from the head of the Inca, Atahualpa, right? How exactly much of gold and silver did they get? And how did they transported them?
2. After they gain the bullion, how did they spend it? Did they use it with good aim? or bad aim?
3. In my opinion, as they got the great amount of the bullion, their economical level (I mean such as their situation of life or development or something like that..) would be increased. What effects/results did they bring after they discovered the bullion?

Well... I will really thank to you if you remain the bibliography when you answer to my questions. cuz i'm seeking to relavent historical websites. Or if u know any awesome historical website, please let me know!! Thx :)

I read it in 1995 in my high school English class.
It starts out that this young boy is going to the "forgotten lands" or something like that. It seems as if it is set back in old times and it is a Native American coming of age journey. As the story progresses, you realize it is actually from the future, and he's going to the ruins of New York City after the nuclear war. Anyone know what I'm talking about???

some thousand years ago there was a kingdom. one day a giant dragon the size of a mountain arrived, he plundered the kingdom killing thousands of people destroying enormous amounts of property. every week the dragon started doing same thing, . as the technology available to them was very inferior, they had no way to kill the dragon , the wise men said why not make a deal with it, so that a thousand men will be sent every week to the dragon as its food, and in retun it will let the kingdom live peacefully. the deal was struck. years went by and the deal was kept from both sides.slowly a lottery system was introduced to send people, roads and trollies were constucted to send the people to the mountain, hundreds of thousand people were employed in the industry, one day a young man came with a new technology which could kill the dragon. but the people became worried . they argued there will be enormous job lost, economic slump and besides chances of killing th dragon was uncertain .

It is incredibly difficult to bring Western & Eastern philosophies together. So I'm not sure how one would measure success here. I suppose that instead of "successfully" one could consider changing that phrase in the question to "most usefully" or "in such as way as to express the truth of things more accurately.".

I was told most use photoshop 6. i have that program, but can't get anything close to the professional glitz photo that I have or compete against..ANY help woulod be great..

Hi! I was fortunate enough to get invited to go to Disney World at Christmas time. I know they have some amazing holiday lighting, and I also know that it will be dark around 5pm. I have a Kodak V705 (point and shoot, with a lot of custom and preset functions, 10x optical zoom). Can you suggest some techniques for taking good pix of the lights after dark? Thanks!

When Simon was on the cross in place of jesus the Bible says that a soldier pierced Jesus. That was supposed to be the shedding of blood. But.....the Bible says water came out. No blood. A crucifixion does not kill by bloodshed. That was the reason for the sword. Wrong reason. Wrong guy.
