I do a lot of pageants, but don't want to spend the kind of money most people spend. I hear a lot of people say that you can do your own picture enhancements. Since this is where I spend most of my money for that glitz barbie look, I want to know more. what is the program used and how can I use it? I was told most use photoshop 6. i have that program, but can't get anything close to the professional glitz photo that I have or compete against..ANY help woulod be great..

You will need photoshop for this (version 6 is an old old old version but to be honest get the cheapest one you can find no matter how old it is)

Alright follow these easy steps to get a glamor look that magazine editors use. Open your image in photoshop. Do all the auto adjustments under Image>Adjustments. If any of them make the picture look weird then undo it. Then duplicate the layer. On the top layer go to Filter>Blur>Gaussian Blur. Now slide the slider to the point where the picture is blury but you can still kind of make it out. Now click ok. With the top layer selected go to the dropdown box on they layers pallet that says Normal and change it to Overlay. If it looks like too much then lower the opacity. Let me know how it turns out or if you have any further questions! This is the method that many magazines look to get that front page look

A good suggestion is to try and hire a student to do the photo touch ups for you. Maybe post an ad for free on your local craislist. (www.craigslist.com). Students are always looking for a few extra bucks and you'll get professional results.

Try Photoshop Elements. Its the inexpensive version but has everything you need to punch up your pictures and add glamor.

By "glitz" do you mean glow? Try downloading Google Picasa. It's way simpler and you can do many enhansments very easily and quickly. It's free too.
