I read it in 1995 in my high school English class.
It starts out that this young boy is going to the "forgotten lands" or something like that. It seems as if it is set back in old times and it is a Native American coming of age journey. As the story progresses, you realize it is actually from the future, and he's going to the ruins of New York City after the nuclear war. Anyone know what I'm talking about???

I think I read that too, in school. There was a scene where the boy is in a high rise and there's a perfectly preserved corpse. Gah, it would be part of an anthology. Can't remember, either.

Monica, a phone call to your English teacher (if s/he's still there) or the school's English department office should get you a fast answer.
