The whole world needs to learn these American values that foster efficiency and enterprise in a forthright no-nonsense manner...... but there would be no point in learning, if it can only end up in having enemies rather than friends. Is there some strange correlation between being efficient and enterprising and having more committed enemies than friends?

I just got a new game Battlefield Vietnam and while playing the game i heard the Vietnamese's propaganda mentioning some man G. I. Jones (not sure if spelling is right) who is he? Oh yeah, and the game is about the war in Vietnam.

The best known examples I guess are "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone" (should be "Harry Potter and the Philosoher's Stone") and "The Golden Compass" (should be "Northern Lights").

Why are the titles changed for other countries, such as Australia and America? Are there any examples of American books (for example) having their names changed for the UK market? If so, again, why?

Hi there, I'm Valentina from italy..."The catcher in the rye" is my favourite book, i think Salinger is a genious, i ve read the book both in english and in italian...in italian it s called "Il giovane Holden" that in english means "the young Holden" I think the way they translated the title is TERRIBLE, the original title is probably the most important thing of the book..the italian traslation is absolutely useless...
BTW, here is my question:
I ve always thought that at the end of the book, (in the last chapter) Holden ends up in a mdhouse, not because he's "mad" but simply because he's "different" and we all know how difficoult it is to be the minority in our society...but recently i ve talked to a couple of people who love the book too and they said they think he s not in a madhouse but he s just in hospital 'cos he probably got a flu or something...
well,
what do u think???

Let me be..

Let me be your canvas,
Where you can stroke your brushes,
To paint a picture,
Of the life you longed to have.

Let me be your paper,
Write anything you want,
Your wishes, your dreams,
What you feel inside.

Let me be the wall,
For your wonderful abstracts,
For the images,
You want to show the world.

Let me be the tree,
Where you carve your name,
To hold the memories,
Forever in me.

Let me be all these,
To help you from your burdens,
Just do what you want to do,
And I'll humbly wait.

I am applying to colleges as competitive as they come (yes, Princeton is on the list) and I NEED to stand out.
I've already chosen my pieces: cuttings from plays I love/ have actually been in:
Annie's asylum monologue from The Miracle Worker
the opening of Christopher Durang's Laughing Wild

This is swell. But I don't know how to put the video together. Should I wear a costume? Is it more impressive plainclothes? Introduce them both at the beginning or one by one? I have to borrow a camera, so if I want to send pieces to one college and other pieces to another college, how do I do that?

PLEASE HELP ME! It's due on Saturday!

i was thinking a painting of a guy pushing past obstacles, or a guy that would not give up at something particular ( main focus would be on determination ). i'm not talking about a sports painting showing some football guy pushing past tacklers, i'm talking about actual art and paintings. a link, website, title of art would be needed as well. thank you so much!
