There's this new British boy who came to our school and he's always complaining about the United States, China and alll those other countries. Saying there's too much pollution, American people are stupid, Chinese people are dumb and so on. Recently I've lost words to say. He said Titanic was made by the British. I told him it sank. And he said it rather sink than go to America. What is it with him? I am at a loss of words. I can't even stand up for my own country. He says the inventions are what are causing global warming. What am I supposed to say to fight for the U.S.A? Tell me please, thank you. And I was just wondering, do you think they might be teaching horriblestuff about USA, China etc. in Britain? Thanks..

at this site they say that sex, wine, pleasure nothing is a hurdle provided you are awakened to your self. the real hurdle is your sleep towards you. the problem is your divided self. you need an awakening and not a prohibition of sex, liquor or enjoyment. what do you say?

And is there any record of who the man was and why he was punished?

(I've just been re-reading Bernard Cornwell's Sharpe novels which is what inspired the question.)

this site discusses that the knowledge, the essence, the sciences, the absolute will have to have a non verbal component. this non verbal component makes the objectivity about the essence, the knowledge, the god, the world, the sciences etc. impossible. so all the knowledge is bound to be subjective ultimately.

is this unknowability the destiny of all knowledge? what do you say?

please tell me what ya think? whether or not it makes any sense to you... whether u can relate to it?
to me its about that hidden burden all of us bear behind our facade. I was actually hoping i could get your interpretations
of bits that maybe mean something to you...

Abyss

The blistering sun shines endlessly on
Stretched out as far as my tired eyes can see
The wind blows swift, the willows yawn
As silence echoes through the chasm deep

I see reality through a haze
My thoughts are painted black
The carefree world outside’s at peace
I can’t go forward, nor turn back***

Opaque and battered the walls enclose
The familiarity intact
Sealing off Life’s precious offerings
Yet Hope seeps through the cracks

Whispers and voices resonate through my prison
Pierce through with searing pain
Showers of blessing turned dust, blur my vision
The cold truth falling on me like rain

I know this sounds unintuitive, but do you guys think smiling is a sign of weakness? I mean we do smile when we're nervous. What do you guys think?

Do you agree with this ? Think first, remember even saintly, noble people, e.g. Mother Teresa types, receive great 'pleasure' helping others, and avoid the 'pain' which they would feel if they ignored unfortunates ..... comments please.

I recently found out, my great grandfather was born under one name (Smith), and then moved to another state and started using another name (Jones), but did not legally change it, over 75 years ago. My entire family goes by the second name (Jones), but what is legal? Should we be under the first name?

Sexuality, if it is left to itself, as it is in the case of other species, other forms of life, is merely a biological need, because the living organism has this object to survive and produce one like itself. Anything you superimpose on that is totally unrelated to the living organism. But we have turned that, what we call sexual activity, which is biological in its nature, into a pleasure movement. I am not saying anything against the pleasure movement. It has become possible for us to have sex at any time we want through the help of thought.

And Love There must be two, you know. I love somebody and somebody else loves me. Wherever there is division, there can't be love. We are trying to bridge this gap, which is horrible for us, which has no meaning, which is demanding something from us, with this fancy idea that there must be love between these two individuals.
When once love fails to establish the perfectly ideal relationship between two individuals, what we are left with is hate
