OK, for all those who say that honest is always the best policy, the next time you ask us if you are fat, is it okay for us to say yes?
Or what if your husband asks you "Do you like him?" and you actually do, would you ever say yes?

I would like to say that Honesty is a word what we gave for nothing, If it is considered to the society but if it is for the self yes it is very important and it can make a lot of difference. And lie to self is what you need to decide.
You are answerable to none except yourself

Of utmost importance.
Human beings in their instinct to manipulate reality think that lies are important tools to function through life but if the whole world was false then that human being will end up lost.
Say it was an 'illusion' that the ground you stood on was beneath your feet or that the air you breathed was carbon monoxide or that your house was a figment of your imagination. If everything you interacted with turned out to be not what it was purported to be you cannot function.
In the desert with that lush oasis off in the horizon. You get up close to it and it's nothing but sand. All it was was an mirage, an illusion, an optical lie caused by sunrays on sand. That goopy mud you walk through in the swamp. Turns out to be a sinkhole of quicksand that threatens to drown you to death in the muck. Looked like you could walk on it and you found out it was a trap.
It is never OK to tell a lie even if it would save the world. Because actually it wouldn't. You must operate in truth or this whole world will have no meaning and no point. Lies only plant seed for more lies to be told later. Either speak in truth or don't speak at all.
When you work a job and it's time to get paid, you don't want the employer to lie about your pay, do you? You don't want to be cheated do you? You don't want the house you live in to be built with shoddy parts due to the deceitfulness of your contractor, do you? That could affect your safety.
If you're gonna lie then lie to liars to teach them how it feels to be lied to. Everybody lies but it's not anything to feel good about. Tell the truth as much as you can because honesty is necessary to function in life. Reality is important. Even if it sometimes sucks.

Honesty to God is an absolute virtue.
If a lie is the lesser of evils, and produces a greater good, then one is temporarily justified in so "saving the world." E.g., a Dutch woman telling a visiting Gestapo officer that there were no Jews living in her home, if there are, does a greater good by lying, in a situation in which the lesser good is being truthful and said truthfulness sends an "innocent" to torture and death.
"The Knowledge of the Tree of Good and Evil," O. M. Aivanhov, "The Path of Virtue," Jonathan Murro, and "Climb the Highest Mountain," Mark Prophet, discuss such notions. "The Reincarnation of Edgar Cayce?", Free and Wilcock, is an example of self-honesty, as is Martha Beck's "Expecting Adam."
kind regards,

Honesty is everything. If there's no honesty you have nothing to build on. A lie would never save the world. The spiritual world is not structured like that. And in spite of what we've all been led to believe, we are NOT physical bodies with an indwelling spirit. We're spiritual beings simply housed in a physical body for as long as we're in this life. So.. being spiritual, we only have honesty. It's the only thing that "fits" with ourselves and our spirituality.

The importance of honesty is its role in creating an environment of cooperation and security among the people in a family, group or society..... it is possible that an isolated act of dishonesty may directly benefit a lot of people, in which case it is indeed justified... for instance if one misleads a person who is evilly planning to plant a bomb or steal from a bank.... or even a milder example of parents lying to children in order to prevent harm to their immature mind. It is something like two negatives makes for a positive.

You can't be true to yourself without honesty so we can say that it's 100% important.

No because eventually that lie will be exposed and then, what? It is better to tell the truth and deal with the consequences.
