History Help!

A few friends and I write comic books. No, nothing professional, it's really just a hobby. Since I can't even draw a straight line, I'm the writer. So, here's my question:

Does anyone here know any programs that facilitate the writing process? It'd be a plus if they targeted comic book writing. I'm not looking in any way for something as pedestrian as 'Comic Book Creator', but an actual writing tool.

Being a starving student who does this with friends to burn time, I really can't fork over any money for this. If all the applications are shareware, I'll have to look for other alternatives (read: adding to my already unwieldy stacks of paper. I wouldn't be completely adverse to a torrent, and to be honest if I did torrent it I would undoubtedly buy the program later to support the company).

Thanks!

as if to say "get over it, country"! i'm sure the people who lost family and friends that day really felt like shopping.

"get your comfort and return to normality from shopping, spending money, things. it's on sale now."

what a comforting reassuring thought Mr President!

I've heard of people saying that the holocaust never happened. I say they are talking BS. Why and how could somebody believe that? We have survivors, people who knew people that died, Anne Frank,People who have relative that have died, and even the camps that people were sent to, and photos. How can people deny it?

I need to turn a 25 page Microsoft Word document into a healthy looking hardcover book in the next three days. Is there anything I can buy... special paper and binding glue, anything to print a copy that looks professional. It's a story I wrote for my girlfriend and I want it to look perfect.

My high school English II teacher told us today about Poetry Out Loud, a National Recitation Project that we would be participating in. Basically we have to memorize and recite a poem and if we win the school-wide competition we will move on to higher competitions. So I was wondering if there are any other high schoolers out there that are participating in this contest. And if so, what do you think of it?

I have been writing poetry for a while and I've been told by friends and teachers that some of it is pretty good. It's always been my dream to publish something. Do you know where I can publish my stuff? I don't mind if it's a contest or something, or even an obscure journal or magazine. I just hope to show my poetry to someone who can tell me if it's really good and maybe see my name in print. Thanks.

For me it's people that get in the express lane with more than 15 items and then write a check, having my favorite tv show interrupted with 'breaking news', loud tv commercials, packages that are hard to open, roaches, waiting for a stopped school bus, a police car behind me, undisciplined kids in a store, kids with runny noses and getting home with your 'drive thru' meal and they forgot the damn fries.

They have been running a series in a Canadian newspaper chain to condemn Canadian WWII veterans who served in heavy strategic bombers (I'm American).

The historians argument is that Strategic Bombing did not affect Germany's war production, it remained the same.

In absolute numbers Nazi war production did remain the same. But using percentages, Nazi Germany was unable to increase their war production and had to direct more resources away from offensive efforts to preserve what they did have.

Because most of Allied production was immune from strategic bombing, they were able to increase war production 200 percent each year.

Nazi Germany had conquered most of Europe and 1,000 miles plus of Russia and were on the verge of winning the war.

Strategic Bombing was the only effective offensive method that could be effectively carried out. Without strategic bombing, I believe the Nazi's would have won the war and that does prove some effectiveness of the tactic.

Thoughts?

During WW2, if the U.S. army, at it's peak, had gone up against the German Wermacht at it's zenith, which army would've most likely won out? I'm speaking in terms of equipment, training, manpower, strategy, leadership, resources, etc. Which side do you think would've had the edge and why? Yes, this is purely hypothetical speculation.

and possibly tell me if its any good. it isn't finished and supposed to be about HIV. its for a scholarship so please help.

A woman with a tear stained face paced her living room floor as she called yet another of her daughter’s friends. She was doing everything the police had told her to do when she called at four o’clock. Erica was to be home by three o’clock and it’s not like her to be an hour late. So needless to say the police didn’t take her “missing child” too seriously. They assured her that they get calls like this all the time only to find out that the child went to a friend’s home without permission, but a mother knows better…

The hours went by, calling every person she could think of, but no one had seen or heard from Erica. It wasn’t until around eleven that Karen heard noises at the front door. She rushed to the door and opened it to find Erica curled up on the top step, half dressed, bruised, and bloody. Karen’s worst fears came true as she fell to her knees in front of Erica.

“Who did this to you?” Karen asked as she lightly touched her daughter’s bruised cheek. Erica’s response was uncontrollable sobs at her mother’s touch.

Karen went back inside the house, grabbed her car keys and a blanket, and ran back to her daughter. She picked Erica up and helped her into the car. The drive to the hospital was quiet with an occasional sniff from Erica. When they arrived, Karen ran inside and screamed that her daughter had been raped. One person grabbed a wheelchair and two others ran out with him to the car. When they reached the car all three of them gently put Erica in the wheelchair and rushed her into the emergency room with Karen following close behind. When Karen went into the back room where they were taking Erica a lady grabbed her arm.

“Ma’am… Ma’am, you can’t go back there.”

“Why not!? My daughter needs me. So if you don’t mind,” with Karen jerked her arm out of the lady’s grasp, and started to walk way, only to be stopped by the same lady.

“Ma’am they can’t treat your daughter until you have filled out the papers.”

Reluctantly, Karen turned around and went back to the waiting room to fill out the papers. The seconds felt like years as she answered each question and filled out all the blanks on the papers. Karen was still filling out papers when two police officers walked in and talked to the lady at the front desk. The lady said something then pointed at Karen; the officers walked over and stopped about two feet in front of her.

“Ma’am, my partner and I would like to ask you a few questions,” said the taller of the two officers.

“Yeah, sure. Ask away,” Karen said never looking up from the papers.

“Well first I think we should tell you there has been a string of rapes over the last month and we believe your daughter has been the latest victim.”

Looking up Karen said, “I haven’t heard anything on the news about this.”

“The department is trying to keep it under wraps to prevent copycats,” replied the other officer.

“But there’s one more thing you need to know,” the tall one speaking up again. “If your daughter was raped by this man, she will test positive for HIV.
