I'm 14 and I really want to be an actress. I have no time to try out for school plays because of band, but I'm trying as hard as I can. Does anyone know how I can get started? I'm enrolled in a theater class at my school, and I'm trying to get as much exposure as I can.

My family is from (by all accounts) the israel/palestine region. The rumor in the family is that my father grandfather changed his last name during the british mandate and sadly my grandfather passed when I was too young to ask questions.

Im stuck as to how I can research my roots when I myself am only a first generation american. My mother is traveling overseas next month and i plan to give her a list of questions to ask all of our older relatives in hopes of getting names of family.

Does anyone have suggestions on how I might be able to gather information due to the colonial period and prior? I know that some of my family fled to lebanon and jordan in 1948 and 1967 but we never heard from them again. I fear if i don't get these answers soon they may be lost as the oldest generation in my family hits their 80's and 90's.

I have considered doing DNA testing to prove/disprove another rumor in the family (that my fathers side came from albania/macedonia/greece) but not seriously

Constant feels that it is okay to lie to some who injures others. He feels they don't have the right to the truth. So he's saying it is okay to lie to a mass murderer who comes to your home looking for you brother so he could kill him. Kant feels telling the truth would be best because what happens if your brother escapes once he finds out the murderer is at the door but not to your knowledge and your lying may cause the murderer to leave and run into your brother as he's escaping and murder the brother. Do you agree with Kant or Constant? If you were the brother in this situation would you stay put or try to escape?

It's something I wrote in the middle of the night (between midnight and 1 am) because I couldn't get to sleep. I dunno how I came up with the topic, but it's an interesting take on things, I think. Let me know what you think.
------
If death could only speak aloud
in his voice what tone?
A wail, a scream of agony
Or an unearthly moan?

Thoughts of death, more oft than not
is just a thing of nightmares
with stealth and a cruel whisper
to catch you unawares

Or perhaps his horrid voice
is cold and hard and strong
to keep you awake and dreading death
at his taunts all night long

Or it may be that Death's cruel voice
like fire, full of hate
taking life and draining hope
all good, obliterate

Yet has it not occurred to you
Death is not, in fact, a pest
His voice instead a calming murmur
"Quiet now, you need your rest..."

So many folks ask whimsical "why?" questions like

why do we love?
why isn't there paradise on Earth?
why do I live and feel?
why did I write this?

Ad infinitum. The only thing stopping you from utter confusion is your imagination, for you can ask "why?" all the time, and to anything. Skip the bullshit and simply ask...

Why?

A practical, common sense answer to this would help MANY boys and girls to move on.

Ohh, and 10 POINTS to the best answer ;P

So a lot of people have been saying it's okay to lie if your intentions were good, if the lie results in good, etc. Well I wanted to know in this particular situation, from a philosophical point of view is lying acceptable. Say you had a friend who jumped to a conclusion about you, ex. he or she thought you were rich based on how you dress yet you know you aren't rich. Your mom just happens to get discounts at clothing stores. Is it wrong not to tell your friend that you aren't rich if he or she doesn't ask? What if he or she did ask and you didn't tell them the truth because you wanted to remain friends with them due to the fact that you feel the only reason you guys are friends is because you are supposedly rich and you don't want to lose him or her if they find out otherwise.

I am used to taking pictures of cameras that are SLR types, the lens rest on the left palm in a holding position and the right finger (pointer finger) rest on the shutter. One time i was on a friends wedding my friends laughed on the way i took their pictures using their slim type digital cameras, because i tucked my both arms to avoid disrupted images during pressing the shutter. Am i really making fool out of myself?
