I find Hume's attempt to cripple the design theory incredibly indecisive. He disagreed with someones point of view and instead of acting like a well educated adult and clearly stating he disagreed and explaining why he did little sneak attacks against the belief of God creating everything and never owned what he believed. He "chipped away at the foundation of belief by exposing weaknesses in various theistic arguments." He used cheap tactics to expose the flaws of what others believed in rather and did not even give them an alternate path. Basically Hume discreetly told every one that they were wrong, but did not back up his theories in any way. Which by the way Hume did not even allow his book Dialogues Concerning Natural Religion to be published until after his death.

Hume introduced many great points, that when completely thought out and explained can make perfect sense, but Hume did not completely think them through nor did he bother to explain his ideas to anyone else.

If there was a God...don't you think that he is atheist against ALL HIS CREATIONS? He don't believe in us... he don't love us...look at all the suffering in this world....if he loved us...he would have never allowed suffering of any kind to have begun in the first place, I would prefer that only atheists answer this...I will ignore any bible crap responses. I call it the bibble.

The brilliant Rosa Luxemburg was so blessed with talent that she could have made her mark in a number of areas other than the political arena; one of those areas was the world of art.

An intellectual who was an accomplished artist as well as the most powerful Socialist writer of her generation, Luxemburg was expected to contribute to the literature of art critique, but in fact did little. Her position was that one should confront art personally, rather than accept another's opinion. She felt that good art naturally recommended itself to the viewer and required no endorsement.

She did, however, have preconceived ideas about what constituted good art, and her tastes were thoroughly conventional. In short, she expected that good art--in her appraisal of it--had the power to speak to individuals in a way that poor art did not. The idea of art as subjective was foreign to her.

So, what do you think? Are there clearly established values of art? Is art appreciation subjective?

I agree with Hume's critisism because they are not only valid but firm objections. He says that he can prove God's existance by using the design argument. But he does mention, "these arguments are open to a series of crippling objects", which are strong counteragruments. One being that, we are "justified" only when we have certain background information to prove it. So then how can we prove the world came into existance? By a perfect God, as Hume said. Or do we even have one?

I have searched the internet, and find many of his other works. Is there some sort of copyright issue with this particular painting? If you know, point me in the right direction to buy a print.

I've been writing a fantasy novel for at least 5 years now. And the problem is I write a whole bunch of pages, and then go back and revise it the next day. Is this an ADHD thing, because then I'm doomed!

By the way, "fantasy" does not mean sexual fantasy, but magic spells and elves kind of stuff.

Let's hear from all the aspiring authors out there!

The women in my family have been keeping personal journals for the last 100 years. The only time that anyone other than the journal writer sees it is when that writer dies. Then the others of the family put it away for 25 years. At that time, it is taken out and read by the other women in the family. I am approaching the time when my grandmother's journal will be taken out and each one of the women in my family will be allowed to read it. What do you think about that?
