If there was a God...don't you think that he is atheist against ALL HIS CREATIONS? He don't believe in us... he don't love us...look at all the suffering in this world....if he loved us...he would have never allowed suffering of any kind to have begun in the first place, I would prefer that only atheists answer this...I will ignore any bible crap responses. I call it the bibble.

Anyone who answered who is not an atheist, I did not invite your ridiculous answers...I never said I hate anybody who loves God [You're putting words in my mouth that I did not say]...They have a right to their OPINIONS...My parents taught us 9 children to love God...They did not hate us. Both my parents died many years ago. I used to believe in a Good God...p.s. I'm not a dude. As far as things I did wrong...I have no criminal record...it's because I look at the world and see all the useless suffering only to end in death made me question whether a good God actually exists...read the bibble from cover to cover...one day I read that you can rape a woman and if she doesn't scream stone her to death... would a good and loving god have that written this in His Holy book when some people in other countries actually believe in this crap! Do you really believe that one little man parted the sea. These are all fairy tale stories that shouldn't be read to children or even read by adults.

Atheism to me isn't a rebellion against or an emotional response to god(s). It's not that I don't love gods, I simply don't believe they exist.

If there were a god or gods who created the universe, an entity powerful enough to do that would also have known in advance the nature of what he was creating. So, he would have no one to blame but himself. Oops.

Of course, one has to assume to begin with that a god would care at all about beings infinitely lower than himself. Do you care about every skin cell on your body? Every bacterium in your intestine? Every amoeba swimming around in a puddle down the street? An infinite being would be far more above us than we are above some germ, so why should he care the least bit about us?

There are believers called deists who believe in a creator god, but who also believe that after creating the universe the god stepped back and allowed it to run completely on its own under natural laws, and not intervening or listening to prayers. If there were a god it seems like this would be the most logical type of god. Then again, as human creations, gods are seldom logical....

(And yes, I am a lifelong atheist.)

Well, I consider myself a hopeful agnostic rather than atheist, but I certainly won't respond with any "bibble". It is my opinion that we don't have the capacity to understand things such as why there is suffering in the world, or what happens after death. I like to think that with death comes enlightenment. All of this which is incomprehensible to us now will then become clear. But the bottom line is, we can speculate and argue about it all we want, yet no one knows what happens after death until it happens. But I digress......no, I don't believe "God" is atheist against all of his (her?) creations. Peace.

Logical arguments don't address the emotional reasons that people cling so desperately to these concepts.

For many, the fear of rejection, abandonment, being unloved or unwanted means that any belief system that promises them unconditional love throughout their life will be clung to.

Anyone who wants to be loved so desperately and find that in religion can also be swayed into cult worship and variety of other polytheistic belief systems. Some people love me. Some don't. Who cares? For some though, this thought is very frightening.

Until we address the social issue of people growing up fear being unloved, cults, religions, and some very outlandish belief systems will continue to flourish.

It's easier to understand the notion from the earlier polytheistic religions, where each god satsified a particular emotion that the local populations dealt with.

Several religions and philosophies advocate "non-interference" as being the ultimate action of kindness. Dude, i bet you all the money I have, that if there is a God, He is not like anyone thinks He is. So why are you attacking someone's CONCEPT of God? Obviously if there is a God, he is outside of our experience, and that means he is BEYOND our understanding. So if we can't understand Him, it means we could NEVER have a TRUE concept of Him, atleast untill we EXPERIENCE him, and then understand.

So, let me follow your logic using parents. You may suffer from choices you made, and even though you were told (or felt) you shouldn't do something but did it anyway, and then consequences reveal themselves... it was your parents who didn't love you because they gave you the choice to make your own decision.
