Is there actually a god? I mean, if there is actually a god, then how did he get here to make the universe? Where did he come from? And also, if Adam and Eve were the "first" humans, then how come there are black people and hispanic people? If supposedly Adam and Eve were "white"? And how come other religions have other gods, but if we all came from Adam and Eve, then why dont we all belive in the dame god?

I'm wondering what you consider to be the 'Catch 22' for the noughties, the literary equivalent of 'Six Feet Under' or 'The Thick of It', Jonson's 'Alchemist' for our times, or the 'Tristram Shandy' of the 21st century... Something subversive, topical, dark, very funny, and excellently executed.

Any thoughts?

Okay, so I'm looking for a good book about anything Greek, preferably Spartan...I would like it to be historical fiction but also include the following...romance, Spartan life qualities, war, and it needs to be understandable. Some books out there are completely about war and terms, or way too many greek characters and hard language and are difficult to understand. If I could only find one that has all of it. I loved the movie '300' and I wish it was in real novel form- but that type of book would be great. It included love scenes, father-son and mother-son scenes, and battle, the strength of the Spartans. It had a plot to it and wasn't totally strategy and battle oriented. Anyone know of anything?

Both Ultima and Narciso are called “magic” by various characters in the book. Compare and contrast the characters of Ultima and Narciso. How does Ultima’s brand of magic differ from Narciso’s? How are they alike? In what sense might each character be called “magic”?

Could Hitler could've take over the world? It seems he was going on the right path. Until Japan bombed America, and America declared war on Japan, since Japan was on Axis side Hitler had to declare war on America. Hitler broke the treaty pack with Russia and fought in the Eastern Front. If Japan never bombed America and America never came from Western Front of Europe would Hitler take over the world? If American's didn't come from Western Hitler could've sent more troops to Russia and take over Russia. Europe would be his? Then the world? Please answer what do you think?

I have been reading some questions that people have asked, and some of them are totally unnecessary and completely stupid questions that arent worth asking. Before some of these people ask these questions, they should look it up on the internet or something before they make themselves look like total idiots to the public. Hope this helps to those it concerns.

This sounds one sided, but has caused alot of controversy. The church instead of punishing child predators within the preisthood, they just move them to a new parish miles away. What's up with that? Have the bishops and even the pope finally lost it?

A materialist believes that there is nothing beyond the physical world. Our "minds" are just an illusion, it really all reduces to particles and energy. Okay, so how can you teach a blind man to understand color?

If a man were born blind, how could he understand color? What if you explained to him what light was, and all of its wavelengths and frequencies? That's not color. What if you explained to him all of the biochemical reactions that go on in his brain when he sees color, or thinks of color? Suppose that he understood everything about how the eye works and how the brain processes information about color? Does he understand color?

A materialist would be forced to say "yes", because the materialist believes that color is nothing more than brain chemistry. From the materialist's own definition of the world, the blind man understands color as well as any man with sight. But that isn't quite right, is it? We know that a blind man can never truly understand color.
