Okay, so a part in the 6th book that has been bothering me alot is that near the end of the 6th book, Harry is in Dumbledores (previous) office and Harry is talking to McGonagall and I believe that he looks at a sleeping portrait of Dumbledore.........why doesn't he talk to him??? That made me soooooo mad! I mean, if he really wanted to talk to him then couldn't he have just talked to the protrait of him???? It is really bothering me....any ideas?

His personality? So, like, then the portrait doesn't remember anything that happened? And doesn't remember the horcruxes or anything?
And I agree....he definitely is very bright sometimes. =D

I disagree that the picture definately can't help Harry, as we know Hogwarts castle is laden with very powerful magic. And we know that the pictures are capable of new memories as seen with Siriuses great great Something grandfather (Whose name escapes me right now), he remembers what's going on in his other portrait.
Dumbledore knew something we don't yet, and that is that all the information that he had about the horcruxes and voldemort was still out there for Harry to find, and Dumbledore didn't have the chance to fill him in on all the nitty gritty detail of each of the horcruxes. I think and I have thought for a while that in the 7th book harry does return to Hogwarts, but only for advice from the portrait Dumbledore, or else a portrait connected to the one in the headmaster's office of hogwarts. I'm sure there are plenty of paintings of Dumbledore around, as he's possibly the most powerful wizard of the era.

However, I do agree that Harry can be a little dim sometimes, and that he should have talked to the portrait, because as far as we know he doesn't know whether or not the portrait can help. I am also annoyed by the lack of information on the proffessions of Lilly and James, it's almost like every time they talk about Lilly and James, I think "WHY WERE THEY SUCH POPULAR WIZARDS, Aurors, uhh... probably not, healers, Ehh... even less likely, ummm... ARGAraragh!!!"

The portraits aren't exactly like the real people; they can talk and such, but don't give the same insight on problems. Plus, in the rush of all that had just happened, including Dumbledore's death, Harry probably forgot that he could talk to the portrait: Harry was too involved with the conversation with McGonagall. There were more important things happening at that moment. Harry can talk to the portrait later on in life.

Harry is still coping with Dumbledore's death, and the portrait is more a capture of Dumbledore's personality, not a memory or something who could answer Harry's questions.

What bothers me most about Harry not doing something is when he never asks what his parents did for a living? It's a basic question that probably ANYONE could answer, but he's never asked.

Harry just isn't bright sometimes :(

Well, the portrait is snoozing, and Harry is completely unaware of his surroundings because he is so angry. He probably just doesn't think about this possibility. The Dumbledore in the photo will know lots of things, but he will not be a replica of Dumbledore. There is no doubt that he knows enough to be of some major help, though.

Portraits of people only share a small fragment of the real person's mind. I also think Harry couldn't bare talking to Dumbledore after what he saw happen.

he could have spoken to the portrait because the portraits in hgogwarts and all over the wizarding world are alive in a way even if the suubject is dead. i think that harry was too traumatized to speak to the picture either that or he wanted dumbledore to get his rest. or maybe it was symbolic because when you die you rest in peace and he was sleeping.

Nope. a minimum of that's what her own cyber web-website says. On there she pronounced that each thing with the Bella/Edward tale would be summed up in "Breaking daybreak" and that's the final e book interior the "Twilight" sequence. yet she did say that she might write from different characters perspectives (Edwards standpoint to Twilight and then others that take place after the 4 e book) to proceed the thoughts.
