Hello my friend.
Let's look at a hammer, as it is a wonderful tool also, but does it necessarily mean that everyone who picks up this hammer will build like a master carpenter? Is it the hammers fault that it was used to crush someone's skull instead of build a wonderful home. Hmmm!
Is it religion that has been corrupted, or man's use of it? When we give the hammer to a master carpenter, a home that will last for generations will be built: it only proves the tools worth.
Religion in our hands will help to make a better world when we become master carpenter's with words and meanings.
A powerful calling you have: but can we learn to use words, and meaning, using words and meaning like a monkey uses a hammer? Your thoughts.

We can destroy ourselves should we choose to.
However, we can choose to destroy ourselves in a vast variety of ways -- which have little or nothing about "arriving" -- religion or honor?
There are many tools which foster enlightenment -- religion is only one of them.
It is not religion that becomes "corrupted" but those (us) who participate in, or run it; and who, again, decide and choose to allow it to be corrupted.
There are also many different types/kinds of 'corruption'.
There is the "corruption" that occurs in communication when a "higher entity" communes with a "lower entity" -- whereby the "lower entity" misunderstands or misinterprets what the "higher entity" is trying to communicate.
There are also "purposeful" corruptions as well.
Pure and true principles are uncorruptable.
It is YOUR responsibility -- and NOT any church, religion, doctrine or religious leader to discern what is or isn't "corrupted" and then take action to ensure that you are 'tainted' by that corruption.
You can begin by first learning how to speak the language of personal responsibility.
Regards,

I think our consciousness play a big enough role in what and how we think that we would not be in a state of self destruction, or pure anarchy. You said it "religion is such a beautiful tool towards enlightenment" the key word there is "tool". there are many tools we can use to reach enlightenment, the greatest one being conscious of our self and our surroundings. In doing so we have a better chance to fend off the corruption in life.

Like all man made contrivances, religion is only as good as the people who control it. There hasn't been a moral Christian leader since Jesus.

I have no problem with religion or theists in general, my quarrel is with irrationality, wishful thinking, superstitions, intellectual dishonesty, and all other forms of thinking that keep mankind mired in darkness, ignorance and hate.

If we have truely arrived, we shouldn't need religion and honor is garnered through honorable actions which arises from doing your duty.
