how much of an advance would you realistically expect to get paid for your first juvenille novel (say 15,000-20,000 words)? i've heard loads of figures, from a pityful £2500 up to a whooping six figure sum. anyone please help!

I'm 13 and I'm looking to become an actress on Disney Channel. I have read many other questions similar to this on Yahoo! Answers but I guess I never really found the right answer. I live close to Chicago and that is closest acting place I can get, for auditions. But before I audition I know I need experience. All I have right now is a couple school plays. Anything I can do to build up the resume around Milwaukee?

Before you answer. Take this into consideration: Snape DID kill Dumbledore. But remember that it was VERY important to the Headmaster to keep Snape's cover. It is possible that Snape told Dumbledore of the Unbreakable Vow that if Malfoy did not kill him, Snape would fill out the order. So (in order to save Snape's life and to keep Snape's cover) Dumbledore told Snape to kill him if they would have ever come to that conclusion. (And of course it did on the balcony.) Also remember that Snape is the most accomplished Legelimens next to Lord Voldemort himself and would have easily kept the Unbreakable vow a secret. It all comes down to whether Snape really did decide to come back and STAY back on the side of good after the fall of Voldemort 13 years prior. Mind you 13 years IS a long time and all that time spent with Dumbledore just might have given him a new light on things.

I am interested in any theories that any hardcore fans like myself may have on this controversial subject.

The Soviet Union was a murderers alley for years, either by the Great Purge of Joseph Stalin or even the Napoleon failed campaign in the 1800's. Germany obviously made a mistake invading this country. They could have never won, even if they weren't at war with Britain, USA and Canada. But...what if Germany's full military might was against the USA, Britain and Canada. Keep in mind, in all likelyhood half of all American manpower and weapons were available for the war against the Japanese. With this in mind, is it possible for a German victory in the West against the Western Allies? Yes, the Battle of Britain was a costly loss for Germany but surely if the Germans had the full power of their air force against Allied convoys in the years 1942-43, this may have proved a decisive victory over the Western Allies? Supply problems would have meant Allied defeat no? The British and Americans would have had tremendous difficulty planning their D-Day without the necessary aircraft, tanks, etc?

there would obviously be pros and cons..for example, it would be harder to publicise wanted criminals and warn people of dangerous weather etc...but there would be less violence, swearing etc for childrens eyes...

tell me your thoughts...thanks!

Is there any way to be absolutely sure that Lea Salonga will be performing as Fantine in "Les Miserables" on Broadway on any given day? I especially went to see her yesterday but there was an understudy playing Fantine. I was very disappointed. Is there more of a chance she might be performing on the weekend?

Humanity has a universal hunger for purpose, but what (in *evolutionary* terms) is its significance?

Why does humanity need this quest for meaning?

Is it just a side effect of our awareness of our mortality?

In short: why do we ask why?
