I'm 13 and I'm looking to become an actress on Disney Channel. I have read many other questions similar to this on Yahoo! Answers but I guess I never really found the right answer. I live close to Chicago and that is closest acting place I can get, for auditions. But before I audition I know I need experience. All I have right now is a couple school plays. Anything I can do to build up the resume around Milwaukee?

If you've read many other questions on this very same subject, then you should know that you're likely to get many of the same answers. Get more training & more experience & get an agent. School plays are definitely a good start, but you'll need more to impress an agent enough to take you on as a client. And yes you absolutely will need an agent to get an audition for a Disney show, and unfortunately I do not know of any Disney shows shooting in Chicago therefore the auditions are not likely to happen in your area. You would have to tell your agent that you really want to audition for Disney shows and you'd be willing to travel to do it AND your parents would have to be willing to take you without much notice AND you and a parent would have to be willing to stay for however long the shoot takes or relocate for a few months if it's a film or a television show and you get a pilot or a series regular part or something like that. I honestly don't know what else can be said that hasn't already been said. If you have a different answer that you're looking for then you'll need to add different information or ask a different question.

If you want to find a legitimate agent to represent you for commercials, TV & film go to Sag.org. Use the dropdown menu on the right labeled 'resources' and choose 'agent information'. On the next screen, on the left choose 'Find a SAG franchised agent' and follow the directions. You will find your fair shar of agents in IL though, so it's a decent place to start.

Then you can send them your headshot, resume, and a cover letter stating that you are seeking representation and wait to see if they call you in for an interview.

Once you have an agent, they will get you the auditions, but until then you can check out actorsaccess.com. You can also see if your state has a film alliance. Sometimes they post audition information for projects filming locally. For theatre, you can go to backstage.com or http://www.actorsequity.org/castingcall/... If you find the audition on the Equity site, you still may be able to go, as long as their not taking appointments from equity actor's only :-) On backstage.com you have to pay to get all of the info, but the initial search is free and you may be able to see enough info to find out the rest on your own without paying.

There is a lot of theatre in Chicago, so hopefully you're close enough to take part in that.

Good luck!

You could try and branch out into the community and do local plays, commercials, infomercials and print work.

To find auditions online look at these webites:
www.craigslist.org
www.mandy.com

Also, look in your local paper or in acting newspapers like Backstage or The Stage.

Once you have bulked up your resume, send that along with your headshot and cover letter to agencies. To find a list of SAG registered agencies in your area, look here:http://www.sag.org/sagwebapp/application...

After 4-6 weeks, an agency should contact you if interested, hopefully then everything will fall into place, you'll get auditions, bookings, showcases, etc.

And that's how you get an acting job!

Don't let anyone ever tell you, you can't because you can!

Good Luck!

Every young girl wants to act on Disney. Britney Spears started n the Mickey Mouse Club.

Miley Cyrus has a father that is a well-know musician.

You have to have contacts if you want to be a professional actor.

Keep performing in school plays and in Community Theater plays.

If you've read questions like this then you will know that the most popular answer is that you need an agent who specializes in children's television along with headshots and resumes. School plays don't really count. Take some acting classes from somewhere outside of school, take dance, and take some vocal lessons.

You can become a disney channel tv show participant. For doing this you must do rehearsal in your home since you will have to perform this live on tv channel. For singing you must have good voice and rhythmic ups and downs in your voice so that when you sing and dance both the activities are synchronized. Good Luck

You should be in a good acting school with a good teacher who can help bring out your true potential as an actress.

Here are some criteria for you to consider when you are choosing a school: http://www.actingcareerstartup.com/acting_classes.html

Community theater, commercials and extra work could be helpful in getting your feet wet.

Sorry I don't know the Milwaukee area.

Hope this helped!

You read the correct answers. You just didn't see what you wanted to see. Forget it and just act for fun. If you are still interested when you get older then by all means persue it. Show biz is no place for a kid. Do you want to end up like all of those kid actors who get into all that trouble? There is a reason for that. It's abnormal for a kid to grow up in that environment. It messes up a lot of people. Just be a kid for now. It'll make you a better actor later.

Acting is not a normal career path. You have to be able to handle lots of rejection. You should have an alternate career path in mind if you decide to bail. You should set an age or date when you will pull the plug if you haven't reached a specified milestone. Also if you feel a similar intensity for any other career, pursue that one.

I'm not an actor having made a debacle as the lead in my high school play, but this is advice I have gleaned over the years.
