why do non-theists assume they can sumarize all theists in one sentence. Theists are a very diverse group and the only statement that is true for all of them is that they all believe in some form of God or spirtitual life forms.

Its as stupid to assume that all theists hold a common belief as it is to assume that all non-theists are closed-minded.

For the same reason that non-theists accuse theists of having closed minds. It is simple stereotyping used to make one side feel better about itself. That said, in regards to certain individuals (on both sides), it is simply a statement of fact. Truth is that some non-theists and theists ARE closed minded! Interestingly, the ones throwing the close-minded insult around are usually the most close-minded.

Almost everybody tends to be closed mined when it comes to religion. Atheists, Christians, Muslims we are all blinded by our faith or lack of. It takes a special person to not be although many claim to be open-minded most are not they just wish to be perceived as being so.
