I've been to both... (I've actually *worked* both!) And I enjoyed B&N more... The door prizes and games were about the same, but the coffee at B&N was definately better!

No clue, I've only been to one midnight release and that was at Borders for HBP. Have to drive nearly an hour for the nearest Barnes and Noble versus about fifteen minutes for the nearest Borders.

Well, lets compare:
a. alcohol- none at either
b. live bands - none at either
c. laser light show - none at either
d. cash payment to all participants - none at either
e. inconvenience - both show well
Conclusion = they both don't have parties, they hold commercial gatherings designed to garner them lots of cash from a public too unintelligent to read the classics.
