I Do Not Choose to be Common

It is my right to be uncommon - if I can.
I seek opportunity - not security.
I want to take the calculated risk; to dream and build, to fail and succeed.
I refuse to barter incentive for a dole.
I prefer the challenge of life to the guaranteed existence, the thrill of fulfillment to the state of calm utopia.
I will not trade freedom for beneficence, nor my dignity for a handout.
I will never cower before any master nor bend to any threat.
It is my heritage to stand erect, proud and unafraid.

There is nothing difficult to take in hand, more perilous to conduct, or more uncertain in its success than to take the lead in the introduction of a new order of things.

Because the innovator has for enemies all those who have done well under the old conditions and only lukewarm defenders in those who may do well under the new.

'Do it or don't do it, you'll regret it either way.'

Of course there is an element of humour but there's some substance to this as well.

Chasing pleasure can be a road to unhappiness, but then again maybe he's suggesting that denying pleasure is also a road to unhappiness.

What do you think?

Its a nice thought, but where does that extra happiness come from?

...and do we have a right to 'dump' our sorrows on others? aren't we just spreading misery?

I dont know if he acted alone, but I do believe heavily that the therory of a conspiracy is much higher then most people realize.

A few years ago i happen to be out in Touscan Arizona and there is a airplane museum there and the last prop driven air fore one is there.

While i was taking a tour, the guide went into the assasination and pointed out something that got my attention.

When Kennedy went to Dallas, they took the prop plane. However the new Jet Air Force One was being readied to send to dallas to replace it and would be the transport for the rest of the trip.

When Kennedy was killed Johnson was waiting on the new Air Force One to go to Dallas.

Very odd that he would be waiting as if he knew.

ok all that sounds like coincidence,,, untill i started looking at the politics of the time.

We all like to think we're ethical, I'd like to know what motivates you and why you value it above other ethics.

I will always choose the best answer, it's my question and can differ from my own view if it's well reasoned. Also, all forums attract a greater proportion of *bunny boilers* than are in the general population, i ain't going to let that be a factor.

I need this for an essay I'm writing--
If somebody could please illustrate the pros and cons, and any information they can find about cosmetic surgery, that would be vastly helpful.
Like, how did cosmetic surgery benefit/hurt our economy? What are the side effects of cosmetic surgery, physically? What does it say about America, which has one of the largest cosmetic surgery industries? Is it ethical? Is it the reslut of low self-esteem? Does it imply to much value in appearances? graphs, numbers, real-life stories, anything would be helpful. Thanks.

What if Hiliary becomes Commader in Chief?
Will Bill be happy or despondent with grief?

Should Bill be concerned or should he be afraid?
For now his wife will have an office aid.

While Bill is out shooting a double bogey,
Hiliary's in the oval office smoking a stogy.

Hiliary will say "I did not have sex with that man,
I'm talking about Bill, not my office aid Dan."

So.. in world history for a project we have to write an essay..

but they collected our books..

which was "smart".. because all of the answers were there..

so could you umm.. give me some pointers on at least one of these..

okay..

1. Identify some of the positive and negative aspects of imperialism.

2. Compare the colonization of the Amercias by Portugal, Spain, England, the Netherlands, and France. How were they similar? How were they different? What influences from each of them do you think still exist in the Americas?

3. Why do you think the Industrial Revolution took place in the areas of the world in which it did? Are all countries in the world now industrialized? How do you know?

4. List 3 or 4 ways in which the major development of Islam was similar to that of Christianity. What do you think are the major differences?

Saw this film again, and whilst the cinematography is worthy of Rembrandt (the great Freddie Francis) the script and acting misrepresents.

Sarah Woodruff is ostensibly Jewish although this is never stated outright. But it is the `Jewish` thing which separates her both from the gentiles and from the Jewish converts. The only link between Woodruff and prostitution is that both single Jewesses and whores were aliens and that Jews were treated as whores.

This is not clarified in the film and indeed it is only in the last reel that we learn she did not have an affair with the French lieutenant and was virginal.

Harold Pinter did not have children with Merchant and married a Catholic. Jeremy Irons also married a Catholic. I believe the screenplay and the acting are undermined that this reality.

The film ostensibly and by using Streep is trying to compare the alienation and persecution of Jewesses then and now. Unfair and untrue. Still lousy.

Has it really improved?????

Do you remember that woman that lived in a shoe?
She now lives in a penthouse with an incredible view.

Her kids are all grown up and they're out of the nest,
she's really looking good and is a lot less stressed.

She drives around town in her car that's a Lexus,
she has a getaway home in Florida and Texas.

She used to make a living selling old pottery,
last May she played power ball and won the lottery.

Hilo

Sugarcane stalks, rustle in sunshine
Salt air wafts, as the seagulls complain
Emerald jeweled isle, Hawaii, Hilo side
Kulolo for breakfast, easy to make

Go pick opi’i, maybe catch lobster
Trade for some rice and Tonkatsu sauce
Sunsets on Pacific are crimson to amber
Palm trees a palace, the sky for a home

I cannot go back now, though paradise lingers
In my heart, long beaches, of pristine white sand
Time there is so precious, old souls remembered
Mahalo kamaaina, mahalo wahine

Ok, so I am an Australian 18yr old male. Finished school last year and haven’t even been able to just get a normal job yet as I am having no luck. I have been asking myself if I could do anything what would it be, and I said acting.

Growing up I had a speech impediment and also had an accident involving my mouth when 3 years old which lead to surgery. Had braces at 14. Growing up I struggled talking to people and didn't have anyone to help me. I didn’t have any friends or family. I have managed to get to the point where most people can't pick it up so I must be doing ok. I improve everyday as talking to people in everyday life helps.

So at the moment I have no life and don't know what to do, I would like to pursue an acting career or even work for a little bit first then try acting.
I want to be an actor; I feel I don’t have what it takes.
Other:
Looks: athletic build, pale, hair is fine at moment hope I don’t go bald, alright teeth, short/average height.
year12 average marks

I am writing a memoir for my project. & I am having a hard time choosing the fonts to use in my book. What are the common fonts which a writer use for their books? What about the italic words? What font are they normally? Also, what fonts are suitable for writing a memoir on World War II? Preferably serious & formal. Yet neat.
